I want to warmly welcome the new Kelvin Play (link) – an RGBACL panel light. Of all the many LED panels I have seen in the market, I don’t recall a single panel using the RGBACL technology.

The Kelvin Play was announced at NAB 2023 last week and received quite a bit of excitement. While we are not new to colored RGB panels, seeing an RGBLAC in the wild was an exciting discovery. If you are new to RGBLAC technology or want to learn why this is a big thing, hit the jump.

Just over a week ago, Nanlux announced the new Nanlux Evoke 900C (buy here), which was said to be on display at NAB 2023 in Las Vegas. We have a team at NAB this week, so we chatted with Nanlux US GM and VP of Sales Mark Bender at the Nanlux booth to see the Evoke 900C for ourselves and learn more about it. The Nanlux Evoke 900C is a powerful 940W RGBLAC LED light designed for high-power use on film and TV sets.

It’s IP55 rated and built to go anywhere. As well as being rugged, the Evoke 900C is pretty powerful, with an output of up to 40,300 lux of 5600K daylight at 3 metres when using the 45-degree reflector. It has a CRI/TLCI of 96 and offers an array of colours that aren’t possible from more traditional RGBWW LED lights.

Popular LED lighting manufacturer, Dedo Weigart Film has launched a new RGBLAC LED light in collaboration with Prolycht. It’s the dedolight NEO Color full spectrum LED spotlight and it offers an 80w adjustable colour focusing spotlight in a dedolight form factor. It uses the RGBLAC Hyperlight Color Engine developed by Prolycht and combines it with Dedolight’s integrated optics for a 6:1 variable beam angle.

The Neo Color system is comprised of the Neo Color Lamphead (DLED7C), the DTneoC Ballast, a light shield ring and 8-leaf barndoors. A 3-metre cable connects the lamp to the NEO colour control unit, and it’s compatible with a number of dedolight optical accessories for the kind of light shaping control dedolight users will be used to.

Nanlite’s Forza 60C is a six-colour RGBLAC LED light for maximum colour accuracy

RGBLAC seems to be the new trend these days when it comes to LED lights. Gone is the more usual straight RGB and even the slightly more fancy RGBWW, which mixes RGB with warm and cool white LEDs. RGBLAC combines red, green and blue with lime, amber and cyan to produce even more accurate colours. We saw it recently in the massive Prolycht Orion 675FS and now it’s come to lower powered 60 Watt LEDs, courtesy of Nanlite.

The Nanlite Forza 60C is an RGBLAC LED light with a super wide colour temperature range of 1800K all the way up to 20000K and CRI and TLCI scores of 96 and 95 respectively. Nanlite says the newly developed that it offers a “near daylight spectrum” of colour that simply isn’t possible with RGBWW LED lights.

The Prolycht Orion 675 FS is the most powerful full-spectrum colour LED spotlight in the world

Prolycht has announced its new Orion 675 FS full-spectrum colour LED spotlight, which it claims is the most powerful colour-tunable spotlight in the world. It uses a six-colour LED “Hyperlight Color” engine that mixes red, green, blue, amber, cyan and lime to create a wide colour gamut that Prolycht says “surpasses traditional RGBW or RGBWW technology” to produce “super accurate and pleasing” skin tones.

Set to 5600K, Prolycht says it’s brighter than a 1200 Watt HMDI and at 3200K it’s equal in output to a massive 5,000 Watt tungsten. When it comes to other LED spots on the market, it says that it’s brighter than a 600W daylight-0nly LED spot and three times brighter than any other manufacturer’s RGBLAC  spotlight. Those are some pretty bold claims!
