Is Fuji-X really a professional system?

I admit to being a bit of a Fuji fanboy. I have to be in order to put up with all the quirks of the Fuji X system. I believe it is this unconventional approach by Fuji that results in their growth and dedicated following.

But there is more to meeting my needs as a professional photographer than just having cameras with the right features and an array of lenses. So here’s why I question Fujifilm’s X-System as meeting my professional needs:

What is “pro gear” and do you really need it to do “pro work”?

The topic of “pro gear” comes up quite often. What is it? Does it make a difference? Will clients and other photographers look at you differently if you’re not using it? The short answer is “probably not”. It really just depends on whether the gear you’re using delivers the results you need.

In this video, Matt Granger talks about what “pro gear” means to him, and what he believes it should mean to you. As far as he’s concerned, there’s no such thing as professional gear, just gear that professionals use. And, for the most part, I don’t disagree.

Brides Magazine: “only choose photographers with ‘full format’ Nikon or Canon cameras”

Brides Magazine is all about weddings, yet they don’t really seem to like wedding photographers. After they advised the brides not to feed their photographers, now they have another “ingenious” piece of advice. They say you should hire a professional photographer, but they consider pros only those who use Nikon or Canon. And only full frame cameras come into consideration!

How iPhone 7 Plus video compares to $50,000 RED Weapon camera

The battle between iPhone and DSLR photography is never-ending. The iPhone advocates claim that it’s not about the equipment, it’s about the skill. On the other hand, DSLR photographers get mad at iPhone users who call themselves photographers. Although I love my Nikon DSLRs and hate the quality of the photos I make with my phone, I’m gonna have to agree with the iPhone users on this one.

This is precisely what Parker Walbeck tried to prove in his video, where he compared the footage taken with an iPhone with the one taken with a $50,000 camera. The results may surprise you.
