Autel Robotics USA has won a pretty major victory over competing drone manufacturer DJI. The suit claimed that many of DJI’s consumer drones have been imported into the US and sold while infringing on Autel’s US Patent No. 9, 260,184. The international law firm, Steptoe, secured the win on March 2nd.

According to the infringement suit, DJI violated Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930, which essentially makes illegal any imports found to be infringing on a US Patent, and other unfair methods of competition.

Back in May, Rotolight began legal proceedings against competing lighting manufacturer, Vibesta for alleged infringement of its intellectual property. The dispute was over the design of their Peragos Disk light, which they alleged infringed on design patents (amongst other IP) of the Rotolight Neo 2.

Now, Vibesta has announced that they’ve won a preliminary ruling on the case brought against them by Rotolight in The District Court of The Hague. They say the court ruled that the Vibesta Peragos Disk did not infringe on Rotolight’s design, and isn’t a slavish imitation of Rotolight’s Neo lights.

Rotolight has today begun high court proceedings against Vibesta B. V. and F&V Photographic Industry B.V. for alleged infringement of its intellectual property. The dispute has arisen over the release of the Vibesta Peragos Disk light, which looks remarkably like the Rotolight Neo 2 on first glance.

The Vibesta Peragos Disk was launched in the last couple of days, and several websites that had previously announced its launch have now taken those articles down. While there are a few differences in functionality between the two lights, there are some pretty obvious visual similarities, too. And those similarities don’t just extend to the product design. Vibesta appears to have used Rotolight’s own marketing images, too.

Launched in 2017, the $1,000 Profoto A1 was a pretty unique design amongst speedlights. Finally, the world had a round head speedlight – something that many photographers had been asking for, for at least the last couple of decades. Now, Godox is getting ready to start shipping their new V1 round head speedlight, launched at Photokina 2018. But Profoto calls foul play.

According to Fotosidan, Profoto is accusing Godox of intellectual property theft, specifically patent infringement, with the design of the Profoto A1. And they’re threatening to sue if Godox doesn’t pull the unit immediately.

Six months ago, Israeli start-up, Corephotonics filed suit against Apple over alleged patent infringement. Essentially they claimed that the iPhone 7 Plus used dual camera technology by infringing on their patents (one, two, three, four). Now Apple faces a second claim from Corephotonics claiming that the iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X also infringe on their technology.

Corephotonics says that the company actually met with Apple to discuss their technology. They allege that Apple refused to enter into an agreement. That Apple simply used the technology described during their meeting anyway without any sort of licensing arrangement. They even claim that Apple’s negotiator boasted they could infringe without fear of reprisal.

It seems like Apple’s always in the news for some alleged patent infringement. Or taking somebody else to court for it. Although, primarily that patent war has been going on between Apple and Samsung. Now, though, The Marker reports that Israel-based Corephotonics has entered the fray. They’ve filed a patent infringement case against Apple in US federal court.

The suit alleges that Apple have infringed their patent which covers dual camera technology. That this technology has already been incorporated into devices like the iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 8 Plus without their authorisation.
