NASA shares first-ever visible light images of Venus’s surface

NASA’s Parker Solar Probe has treated us with some stunning photos so far (like that time when it “touched” the Sun). But now, its cameras have turned to Venus.

The probe has taken its first-visible light images of the surface of Venus. And not only it’s Parker’s first, but this is the first-ever photo of our neighboring planet taken in the light that the human eye can see.

This is how to capture a rocket photo like Erik ‘the rocketman’ Kuna

Erik Kuna is a Floridian photographer shooting for SuperCluster, a creative agency sharing the story of space to everyone, and instructor at KelbyOne. Kuna has taken revolutionary steps in rocket photography, employing techniques never used before to create amazing cinemagraphs and images. Those are more than merely documentary, they’re art. We’ve asked Erik to share the story behind one of his pictures with us, and it’s seriously cool.

Erik had the idea to incorporate his daughter into a shot, and what a shot it is. Taken in some dunes not far from Cape Canaveral, it depicts his daughter as an astronaut. Behind her, the $1.5 billion project soars across the night sky. The trajectory of this rocket, headed to the Sun, is a perfect arc. It all came from precision planning, and Erik has some hot tips to share with anyone planning to shoot rocket launches.

NASA just released the first photograph shot inside the Sun’s corona

NASA’s Parker Solar Probe’s goal is to help us answer some of the big questions we have about the Sun. In order to do that, it has to get very close to it. Inside its atmosphere, basically. More commonly known as the corona.

The probe has come closer to the sun than any human-made craft before it, and NASA has just shared this incredible photo of a coronal streamer. This is the first photo ever to have been shot inside the Sun’s corona.
