Nikon announces COOLPIX P950, a 4K version of Nikon P900

After being rumored a few days ago, the Nikon COOLPIX P950 is now officially announced. It’s another super-zoom compact camera from Nikon, and it’s kind of a crossover between the P900 and its younger brother P1000. It has the zoom range of the P900, which is smaller than the one of P1000. But on the other hand, it lets you shoot 4K video which P900 doesn’t. So let’s dive in and see what Nikon brings in its latest prosumer camera.

Nikon has recently announced Coolpix P1000, a compact camera with insane 125x optical zoom. In case you were wondering what it looks like to zoom in that far on a compact camera, Mr Jayanta has filmed a couple of videos that demonstrate it. You’ll be able to check out the stability and autofocus of the camera as it zooms all the way to 3000mm equivalent.

Nikon’s new Coolpix P1000 features insane 125x optical zoom

Nikon has just announced Coolpix P1000:  a compact camera that boasts the world’s highest optical zoom ration of 125x. The lens covers a range of focal lengths between 24mm and 3000mm (35mm equivalent). And if that’s not enough, there’s also 250x digital zoom, which will give you an equivalent focal length of 6000mm.

Panasonic launches LUMIX TZ200: 15x optical zoom and 4K in a compact body

Along with the LUMIX GX9, Panasonic has announced another camera today. It’s a compact Panasonic LUMIX ZS200 (or TZ200 outside the U.S.). Its compact 4.4″ wide body holds a 1” 20.1 MP sensor. It features a Leica lens with 15x optical zoom, covering a 24-360mm equivalent focal length range. With its portability and versatile zoom, Panasonic promotes this camera as the ideal travel companion.

DJI’s new Zenmuse Z30 drone camera has 30x optical zoom

After recently introducing their first drone camera with optical zoom, the Zenmuse Z3, DJI have now announced the Zenmuse Z30. This camera features a 30x optical zoom, a major improvement over the 3.5x optical zoom of the Z3. Designed primarily for commercial applications, DJI see this camera being used for inspecting wind turbines and cell towers.

DJI is taking a square aim at commercial drone market rather than hobbyists or filmmakers. To scout difficult locations for firefighters or search & rescue at long range it’s an ideal camera. It will also aid in things like building inspection and surveying of locations impossible to reach after a major disasters.
