Nikkor Z 58mm f/0.95 S Noct was recently announced and ready for preorders. But even before the shipping has started, Nikon has decided to suspend the preorders. Apparently, there’s a high demand for this pricey, fast lens, and the company won’t be able to meet it.
Nikon’s insane Z 58mm f/0.95 S Noct lens is officially available, costs $8,000
Nikon’s Nikkor Z 58mm f/0.95 S Noct lens has been rumored, announced and demonstrated over the past year and a half, and now it’s finally here. The insanely fast lens from Nikon is now officially out for preorders, the rumors were true: it does cost nearly $8,000. It’s designed for Nikon’s Z-series of cameras, and let’s dive in and see what you get for those 8,000 bucks.
Nikon’s 58mm f/0.95 looks more like an appendage-waving proof of concept than a lens they expect people to use
There hasn’t been all that much information released on the Nikon Z 58mm f/0.95 S Noct lens. We know that it’s 58mm, that it’s f/0.95 and manual focus, and we believe that it’s going to cost approximately $6,000. The lens is expected to be released at some point this year, but beyond that, there’s not really much to go on.
But Nikon had one on display att CP+ 2019, and Matt Granger got the chance to have a bit of a play with one. In this video, he lets us know his thoughts, and I have to say, for a lens that’s so expensive, it seems fairly useless. Created simply as a proof of concept more than a lens they actually expect people to buy in order to flex their muscles for the competition.
The Nikon mirrorless 58mm f/0.95 Noct lens is coming in 2019
We didn’t think the Nikon Nikkor Z 58mm f/0.95 S Noct would be announced today with the new Nikon Z6 & Z7, but now we know for sure. Even though Nikon did announce some new lenses today, the 58mm f/0.95 was not amongst them. What Nikon has announced, though, is that they’re working on it. But they’ve announced it with more certainty than those early Nikon mirrorless camera teases.
The fourth teaser for Nikon mirrorless hints at Noct-Nikon lenses
A week ahead of the official launch, Nikon has published another teaser of its upcoming mirrorless camera. This time, the short video puts focus on the lens. And from what we can see, it looks like the rumored Nikon Z-Noct-Nikkor 58mm f/0.95 might not only be a rumor.
New information on the upcoming Nikon mirrorless: two camera and three lenses coming on 23 August, 58mm f/0.95 coming soon
As the launch date approaches, new information of the upcoming Nikon mirrorless cameras keeps coming in. That’s right, you read it well: cameras. The previous rumors that Nikon is launching two full-frame mirrorless cameras instead of one have been confirmed. And in addition, three lenses to accompany the cameras are coming on 23 August, too.
Nikon’s new mirrorless will actually be two new mirrorless cameras
There have been plenty of assumptions, rumors and finally a confirmation that Nikon is developing a mirrorless camera. Judging from the latest report, it seems like there will be not one, but two mirrorless cameras announced. And the first set of specs for them has just leaked online.
