Trippy photography game Alekon is coming to Nintendo Switch

Since you’re here, we already assume that you love photography. But if you’re also a fan of trippy visuals and dreamy, non-violent video games, then you’ll love Alekon. It’s a cute fantasy video game made for photographers and photographers-to-be.

Originally released on Steam in 2021, Alekon is getting its Nintendo Switch version on April 6, 2023. In case you haven’t heard of it like I haven’t before writing this, let’s see what it looks like and what it offers.

Nintendo Switch game Pupperazzi is all about taking photos of dogs

If you’re a dog person who’s into photography and video games, Nintendo Switch has introduced a perfect game for you. It’s called Pupperazzi, and yes, it’s just as it sounds: it’s all about taking photos of dogs. It hardly gets better than that.

Fujifilm teams up with Nintendo for a themed Instax printer for Nintendo Switch

Well, this is an odd one. Fujifilm has announced an unlikely collaboration with Nintendo. They’re releasing a Nintendo-themed Instax Mini Link app that works via your smartphone for the Nintendo Switch. It’s not designed for printing photographs, though… Well, it can, offering a bunch of frames from a range of Nintendo games, but it’s primarily intended to let users print out scenes and characters from their Nintendo Switch console.

While the printer itself is the bog-standard Fuji Instax Mini Link in a custom colour scheme, but there is also going to be a Pikachu-themed silicone case for it (available as part of a bundle with the printer, not available separately). But the most shocking thing about the collaboration, as Fuji Rumors points out, is that the smartphone app actually seems to work – unlike their camera app.

This is the story of how I created one of the strangest cameras you may ever hear about. I’ve been working on the design for over a year and I’m finally ready to share it with the world. Shooting With a Nintendo Game Boy Camera from 1998

A little while ago I spotted a Nintendo Game Boy Camera in a second hand shop and my eyebrows went up. It looked pretty jazzy, like someone had melted an old webcam onto a game. Some of you probably own and have used these things before, but I had never come across one. I bought it straight away.

John Aldred: from diyphotography.netJohn Aldred is a photographer with over 20 years of experience in the portrait and commercial worlds. He is based in Scotland and has been an early adopter - and occasional beta tester - of almost every digital imaging technology in that time. As well as his creative visual work, John uses 3D printing, electronics and programming to create his own photography and filmmaking tools and consults for a number of brands across the industry.

Dunja Djudjic: from diyphotography.netDunja Djudjic is a multi-talented artist based in Novi Sad, Serbia. With 15 years of experience as a photographer, she specializes in capturing the beauty of nature, travel, and fine art. In addition to her photography, Dunja also expresses her creativity through writing, embroidery, and jewelry making.
