Nikon might have taken their sweet time to follow Sony onto the mirrorless bandwagon, but they seem to be catching up somewhat in features. They’ve just announced new Version 3.00 firmware for the Nikon Z6 & Nikon Z7 mirrorless cameras which adds animal detection to the Eye-AF feature. They’ve also released Version 1.10 for the Nikon Z50 to address a couple of things.
Nikon: you can try the Nikon Z50 at home for a month, then keep or return it
by 4 CommentsThe Nikon Z50 was recently announced and started shipping last month. If you’re still having second thoughts whether it would be a camera for you, here’s a great chance to try it out. Nikon USA has started the Yellow Program which allows you to try the Z50 for a whole month before making a final decision. If you like it, you can keep it. But if not – you can return it after 30 days and get a full refund.
Adding IBIS to the Nikon Z50 would’ve made it too big, interview with Nikon reveals
by 2 CommentsThe Nikon Z50 looks like a pretty neat camera. Positioning itself as an entry-level mirrorless camera sitting somewhere between the capability of the D5x00 and D7x00 series DSLRs. Its design seems to have involved a couple of questionable decisions. The folks at Amateur Photographer got to speak to Rob Rob Harman, Senior Commercial Planning Manager at Nikon UK to find out more about those decisions.
The Nikon Z50 has now been announced along with two new DX Z Mount lenses
by 1 CommentThe rumours have been coming thick and fast on the Nikon Z50 lately, but now it’s official. Nikon has today announced the new Nikon Z50 DX format mirrorless camera. They’ve also announced two new DX Z Mount lenses along with it, The Nikkor Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR and the Nikkor Z DX 50-250mm f/4.5-6.3 VR.
The Z50 appears to be more of a D5x00 series continuation than a D7x00 series follow up, although it features a similar (perhaps the same) 20.9-megapixel sensor to that found in the Nikon D500, shoots 11 frames per second stills, 4K UHD video, and supports High Speed Sync flash.
Nikon Z50 promotional images leak ahead of official announcement
by 8 CommentsIt’s not quite official, but almost. Nokishita has posted a couple of Nikon Z50 promotional images to Twitter ahead of an official announcement from Nikon. When images like these leak, an actual announcement is almost certainly within a few days away.
Nokishita leaked a not great Z50 photo earlier along with the new 16-50mm APS-C Z mount lens, although it did show something of the camera’s form, which isn’t all that different from the “Z1” photo which got out several months ago. It looks like I called it on the APS-C Z Mount mirrorless, too (despite the “FX” logo on the body).
