Multiple exposures can add a totally new dimension to photos, making them dream-like and surreal. Ben Dauré is a filmmaker and photographer from Leeds, UK, and his work is eye-catching in every possible way. He photographs human eyes and uses multiple exposures, which results in truly unique and breathtaking images. And what’s more, he does it all entirely in-camera. We bring you some of Ben’s awesome work, and he was kind enough to share with DIYP how he creates it.
Graduated ND filters or multiple exposures: what is the best option for a landscape photographer?
Using a Graduated Neutral Density filter is fairly easy and doesn’t require any advanced techniques in post-production but the easiest option isn’t always the best choice; due to the filter’s transition being horizontal, anything above the distinction will be darkened and anything below will be left alone.
This is a good solution when there’s a flat horizon but what do we do when there are mountains projecting above it? What do we do when there are large trees in the image? Using a GND filter means that they’ll be darkened as well. That’s something we want to avoid.

How To Shoot Motorcycles Using Only One Speedlight
I did a shoot recently with a big BMW using only one speed light and I wanted to share how I made it happen. The idea is, of course to learn something new, but also to show that having little gear should not stop you from pushing yourself. Sadly I cannot use the bike photo, but I reproduced the process using a trusted unique Kymco Like, it’s not a BMW but it will do. My original plan was to use a full blown studio setup: monoblocks, softboxes and umbrellas as diffusers for the shot. But as I was setting up I thought of a crazy idea: Light is light, so why don’t I just add the light from multiple exposures and shoot it with one small speedlight. So here is a step by step tutorial and video on how we did it.
