La La Land is nominated for 14 Oscars, and one of them could go to Damien Chazelle for best director. An interesting mock trailer from Cinefix shows what it would look like if it was directed by David Lynch. If you’ve seen La La Land, then you know that the atmosphere of that movie is quite cheery. And if you’ve watched any of David Lynch’s movies, you know they are way different.

This mock trailer shows how important editing is, and how a different director and tone can change the entire concept. From a bitter-sweet love story, it turns into a dark and twisted drama.

They love camera, and camera loves them: these 10 great actors are also great photographers

The Oscars 2017 is just around the corner, so I’ve spent a couple of nights last week trying to make up for the nominated movies I haven’t seen. Generally, if I like the movie and the actors’ performance, I often wish to learn something more about them after the movie is over. This is how I discovered one of them is equally good behind the camera as he is in front of it.

But I didn’t stop there. I wanted to find out more, and discover more actors and actresses who enjoy photography. Eventually, I came up with a list of 10 great actors and actresses who love the camera as much as it loves them. ‘Finding Vivian Maier’ is now on Netflix

Ten years ago, the name Vivian Maier wouldn’t ring a bell in anyones’ mind. Today, the name Vivian Maier is almost as well known as some of the pioneers of photography.

This all changed when a box of negatives captured by the unknown street photographer were found in 2007. Since then, much fanfare has been made and, naturally, a documentary into the life of Maier has been produced.[Read More…]

World’s first feature length “first person shooter” movie coming soon, to a theatre near you

Shot almost entirely on GoPro cameras, and several years in the making, Hardcore Henry is hoping to set a new standard in action movies.

Described by Engadget as “A mix of Jason Bourne, Captain America, and Call of Duty”, it definitely looks like it’ll be different from pretty much every action movie we’ve ever seen so far.

While we’ve seen the idea before as short sequences in movies such as Doom, designed to mimic the game upon which the film is based, this is the first time an entire movie will have been shot from this perspective.
