Dorothea Lange’s photo Migrant Mother is one of the most famous photos of the 20th century. If you’ve always wanted to have a print of it, now you can as there’s one on an auction. And it’s not just any print – it was originally part of Dorothea Lange’s family collection. Not surprisingly, it’s expected to sell for up to $70,000.

Dorothea Lange’s Migrant Mother is certainly one of the most iconic photos of the 20th century. And just as the photo is striking, so is the story behind it. There is hardly anyone who doesn’t know about “Migrant Mother,” an iconic photo by Dorothea Lange. The 1936 portrait depicts Florence Owens Thompson and her children, and there are many true and untrue facts we’ve heard about it. But did you know it was altered? Or “photoshopped,” as we tend to say nowadays? Thanks to a new book from the Museum of Modern Art, this interesting fact has recently seen the light of day.
