A while back, Eujin Goh from Broncolor Singapore approached me and asked if I would like to collaborate using some Broncolor gear in a conceptual photoshoot that I could hammer out.

I jumped at the chance and was thrilled to know that I would be using some of Broncolor’s latest tech – the Siros L system – a completely wireless battery-powered lighting solution for photography. You can even control the Siros L from your smart device if you download the Broncolor BronControl app for the iOS!

To sweeten the experience further, I got to shoot on the Phase One XF 100MP as well as the old but gold Hasselblad H3DII-39 (medium format) camera systems!

Storyboarding came next. I had to decide what concept to work on and settled on cosplay photography.

I gathered my team for this epic endeavour and got hold of Rainer Cosplay for an epic collaboration that saw us experimenting with water, smoke and fire.

Sometimes bringing a toy to life is just a matter of setting it in the right environment. For me this was the case when shooting Fate Zero’s Saber and her Motored Cuirassier. While this shot may seem fancy, it was actually taken in a corridor just outside my home. I did ran into some difficulties as I did not have anyone assisting me for the shoot but I did come up with some solutions that worked well in the end.

I did this shot as a single exposure, so all the effects were done in-camera. With a spray bottle.

Nothing like a good visit to the beach right? Some dips in the water, some laying in the sand and some visitors from planet Jakku. Wait what?

Singaporean photographer Mezame Shashin-ka used his time at the beach to recreate the desert planet Jakku. It really does not take much more than a good imagination, a strong vision and a clever edit.

I was scrolling through my Facebook feeds and came across an article featuring a wedding photographer’s rant on disruptive guests who get in the way of wedding photographers who are just doing their job.

Good to note that the photographer who was featured in the article did his best to get good shots by getting around guests and other obstacles.

Well, since some of my Mezfans are into wedding photography, I’ve decided to compile a list that may help you.

Oh wait. Maybe the issue isn’t the photographer but the guests themselves after all!

Here’s a helpful list for anyone on how to be a better wedding guest!

DISCLAIMER: I am not a wedding photographer. I specialise in themed concept portrait photography. These are my (tongue-in-cheek) opinions.

To commemorate Back to the Future Day (21st October 2015), I decided to do a photoshoot of the Time Machine. (I just love movie themed shoots) This was shot on location on the top of a multi-storey car park in Woodlands, Singapore, with a 1/15th scale DeLorean Time Machine replica by Diamond Select. A little Photoshop work had to be done to exclude the table the DeLorean was placed on where some aspects of forced perspective techniques were applied.
