If you remember the beginnings of digital photography, then you probably remember that it was all about the megapixel count. Today, the market still offers us cameras with 10 MP, but there are those with 50 – 100MP, too. And how much does it really matter? In this video from B&H, David Flores discusses how important the megapixel count really is, and why there can be some advantages even to lower-resolution cameras.

Do megapixels really matter? Well, of course they do, but they don’t take the first place when it comes to the importance. According to photographer Manny Ortiz, a good dynamic range is what you should look for in a camera. In his latest video, he shares why both are important – but also why dynamic range matters more.

A7RIII 80 megapixel rumor – Let’s talk about why I love the Megapixel race (not what you think)

Sony Alpha Rumours have made a lot of buzz the last couple of days by announcing that they’ve received some hints about the potential size of images that may be produced by the Sony A7RIII.  According to their source…

a7Riii the new sensor will be between 70 – 80 Megapixels. They are working on improved IBIS as well. Although officially the new lenses per the 24-70 F2.8 GM and the others have been tested for QC at 60+ Megapixels and 6K+ Video they achieve even better results than that.

I’m not going to go on about this camera specifically, but 70-80 Megapixels.  Let’s talk a little about that.
