Watch a DJI Mavic 2 Pro hit a car windshield at 62.5mph

Impacts are always fun videos to watch, especially in slow motion and even more so when it results in something being completely obliterated. Well, we’ve got the impact and the slow-motion but not so much of the obliteration in this video. It was created in partnership with the Virginia Tech Mid-Atlantic Aviation Partnership, the College of Engineering, and State Farm to evaluate drone collision risks with a moving vehicle.

Almost as soon as the video starts, a DJI Mavic 2 Pro enters the frame and hits the windshield of the car. But instead of smashing to bits, there’s a bit of bending and then it just skims off the top, with no immediately obvious damage to either the drone or the windshield – which does a Matrix-like wobble on impact.

Modifying my Mavic 2 Pro remote to act more like an aircraft style controller

I’m having a go at converting my DJI Mavic 2 remote controller from two thumbsticks to a more Aircraft style controller where a whole hand joystick controls Pitch, Roll and Yaw and the left stick only controls Throttle / Altitude.

The first step is opening up a second-hand remote I bought to see if this is possible.

Moment launches world’s first anamorphic lens for consumer drones, and more

Moment has been known for making smartphone lenses, and they turned out to be pretty neat. Now the company has launched Moment Air, which includes a whole bunch of accessories for Mavic 2 Pro and Zoom drones. They include a set of filters, a carrying case, and more. But the most interesting piece is probably the world’s first anamorphic lens for consumer drones.

Drone pilot captures the frightening moment he spots a shark approaching his family

While his wife and kids were playing in the shallow water at New Smyrna Beach in Florida, Dan Watson decided to take their photo from air. And boy they were lucky that he did! As he got his Mavic 2 Pro into the air, he spotted a shark moving towards his family. He rushed them out of the water and took incredible photos as they were running to safety.

The DJI Mavic 2 Pro was made with high image quality in mind. And what happens when you modify the Mavic 2 Pro’s camera to shoot infrared? Well, you get a stunning and surreal aerial footage. Philip Bloom had his drone camera converted and here’s the video showing just how amazing it looks to shoot infrared video from air.

Alex Baker is a portrait and lifestyle driven photographer based in Valencia, Spain. She works on a range of projects from commercial to fine art and has had work featured in publications such as The Daily Mail, Conde Nast Traveller and El Mundo, and has exhibited work across Europe

Dave Williams is an accomplished travel photographer, writer, and best-selling author from the UK. He is also a photography educator and published Aurora expert. Dave has traveled extensively in recent years, capturing stunning images from around the world in a modified van. His work has been featured in various publications and he has worked with notable brands such as Skoda, EE, Boeing, Huawei, Microsoft, BMW, Conde Nast, Electronic Arts, Discovery, BBC, The Guardian, ESPN, NBC, and many others.

John Aldred is a photographer with over 20 years of experience in the portrait and commercial worlds. He is based in Scotland and has been an early adopter - and occasional beta tester - of almost every digital imaging technology in that time. As well as his creative visual work, John uses 3D printing, electronics and programming to create his own photography and filmmaking tools and consults for a number of brands across the industry.

Dunja Djudjic is a multi-talented artist based in Novi Sad, Serbia. With 15 years of experience as a photographer, she specializes in capturing the beauty of nature, travel, and fine art. In addition to her photography, Dunja also expresses her creativity through writing, embroidery, and jewelry making.
