Instagram add live streaming to Stories and disappearing photos for Direct messages

When Instagram stories landed in August, it was an instant hit. Every day, I load up Instagram to see stories being constantly updated with new stuff. Now, Instagram are expanding the capability of Stories by offering live streaming. Live streaming is a feature that’s proven to be wildly popular for Facebook, and is sure to be a big attraction to Instagram users.

When somebody you follow starts a “live story”, you’ll see “Live” written under their profile photo in the stories bar. During the broadcast you can comment and like as much as you want. You can also check out new live stories through Explore.

You can now live stream your Yi 4K action camera straight to YouTube or Facebook

The Yi 4K is a pretty great camera already, especially for what it costs. Yi, however, did something pretty unique with the Yi 4K. When they released the new camera, they also announced that it would come with an Open API. While most aren’t able to take advantage of this, what it does do is allow developers the opportunity to talk directly to the hardware and create custom apps for the Yi 4K.

Thanks to the Yi Open API, Mn_nH now brin us one of the features that a lot of Yi 4K users have been begging for. You can now stream your Yi 4K camera directly to YouTube and Facebook through a new iOS app. Not only can it send live to these servers, but it seems that it can stream to both of them simultaneously.

How To Get Great Sound With Facebook live using a $15 gadget

If you’ve ever tried doing a facebook live session you know that using your phone’s onboard microphone really sucks. Here is how we solved this problem with a $15 cable from rode.

Of course, we do assume that you have a microphone capable of producing great sound (we are using Rode’s Filmmaket kit). So it is not $15 for great sound, it is extra $15 to bring your (already awesome) sound into your smartphone or tablet live broadcast. The cable is called Rode SC4, and it converts DSLR microphones into smartphone and tablet microphones.

In the video we also show how to hook up more than one microphone to an iPad, say for an interview or a panel using a Tascam DR70, and a few XLR microphones.
