Lenny Kravitz is well-known for his music, but he’s also an avid photographer and a fan of Leica cameras. So, Leica teamed up with the famous musician to bring you a stylish, limited edition version of Leica M Monochrom. It’s covered with faux python skin, and along with two lenses, it will set you back “only” $24,000.
Shortly after launching a Safari version of M10-P camera and Summicron-M 50mm f/2 lens, Leica announces another limited edition of the M10-P. The Leica M10-P ASC 100 Edition is coming soon to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the American Society of Cinematographers. It’s introduced as “an exclusive tool for filmmakers,” although it won’t shoot video.
Leica Camera has released a new Leica M10-P camera and Summicron-M 50mm f/2 lens. They’re a lot like the old M10-P and 50mm f/2 lens, except these are limited “Safari” edition. Leica says that the release of these items “reopens a beloved chapter in Leica Camera’s ongoing tradition of special olive green camera releases”. There will only be 1,500 M10-P cameras up for sale worldwide and only 500 of the matching lens.
Leica is king of ultra-expensive limited edition cameras, and wealthy collectors love them for it. This year, they collaborated with renowned photographer Terry O’Neill to create the Terry O’Neill limited edition Leica MP. Shortly after the release, they sold all 35 of the cameras they produced despite costing $14,500 a piece. Kinda scary, no?
Leica has announced a new version of their Monochrom (Type 246) camera. Perhaps inspired by a famous Rollingstones’ song, this limited edition camera is painted almost entirely in black. The only white details are the markings, and they glow green in the dark. The overall look of the camera is absolutely beautiful, but there’s only one flaw: it costs $15,750, twice as much as the “regular” Leica M Monochrom.
For the Leica shooter in your life who has everything, what do you get them this Christmas? A red Leica M, of course. Although, you’ll be paying about an extra $1,400 for that paint job. The normally $5,595 Leica M will cost you close to $7,000 in its fancy red uniform. But you’d better hurry, they’ve only made 100 of them.
I’m not quite sure what the fascination is with offering Leica cameras with the purchase of a vehicle is, but it appears to be a trend that’s growing.
Late last year, we reported that car manufacturer Briggs Automotive Company was giving away a custom Leica T (Typ701) with every purchase of its $250K BAC Mono. Now, it appears BMW is getting in on the action, also offering a free Leica T (Typ701) with the purchase of its BMW i3 Mr Porter Edition.[Read More…]
Leica might be German-made, but that doesn’t mean it can’t collaborate with other markets for exclusive versions of its cameras. The latest example of this are two new Leica M-P ‘Panda Edition’ camera sets, designed specifically for the Chinese market.[Read More…]
