The anamorphic look is all the rage these days, as evidenced by the rate at which new anamorphic lenses seem to be getting announced. And while it’s not possible to fully create the anamorphic look without an anamorphic lens, it is possible to fake it a little bit. For After Effects, there are plugins like VideoCopilot’s Optical Flares plugin. But isn’t there another way?
Well, yeah, there is. You can do it in DaVinci Resolve using the Lens Reflections effect. It works differently to the Lens Flares effect, offering a lot of control over how internal lens reflections are rendered and in this video, Jamie Fenn shows us how it works.
