A rare 1957 Leica MP Black Paint edition camera was recently listed at the 39th Leitz Photographica Auction. The camera has been sold, earning a whopping price of over $1.34 million, which is its highest value by far.
This new Terry O’Neill limited edition Leica MP costs $14,500, and it’s already sold out??
Leica is king of ultra-expensive limited edition cameras, and wealthy collectors love them for it. This year, they collaborated with renowned photographer Terry O’Neill to create the Terry O’Neill limited edition Leica MP. Shortly after the release, they sold all 35 of the cameras they produced despite costing $14,500 a piece. Kinda scary, no?
Update: rare $13,000 Leica returned to The Camera Store
Earlier this month, Calgary-based business The Camera Store was robbed for pricey Hasselblad X1D camera and three lenses, and a rare Leica MP Safari kit. Thanks to the fast reaction of the community and the police, the Hasselblad gear was returned to the store only 48 hours after the robbery. And now, just in time for Christmas, the rare $13,000 Leica found its way back to the store, too.
