Venus Optics keeps expanding its family of lenses. A week after launching the L-mount version of its four lenses, the company is adding Canon RF and Nikon Z option to two more. The 65mm f/2.8 2x Ultra Macro APO is now available for Nikon Z, whereas Canon R shooters will be able to get the 11mm f/4.5 FF RL lens.
Laowa has released six lenses for the Leica/Sigma/Panasonic L mount system
Laowa has released six of their popular lenses for the L mount system. The lenses include three wide angles (one zoom and two primes) along with three of their macro lenses. Laowa says that the new L-mount versions of the lenses are compatible with the Sigma fp, the Panasonic S1 series (including the S1R and S1H) as well as the Leica SL/CL cameras.
The lenses are all manual focus and the list includes some of Laowa’s favourites, including the 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 (the widest full-frame rectilinear lens that exists), the 12mm f/2.8 Zero-D, and their 100mm f/2.8 2X Ultra-Macro, that we reviewed here.
First real world samples and review of the new Laowa 65mm APS-C 2x macro lens
When we reviewed the Laowa 100mm f/2.8 2X we said it could compete with a microscope. Laowa’s new 65mm f/2.8 2x Ultra Macro APO is no different.
The Laowa 65mm f/2.8 2x Ultra Macro APO is just a slightly smaller version of its full-frame brother*. Venus Optics managed to cram in all the features and bonuses of its 100mm macro into a smaller package.
Laowa’s new 65mm f/2.8 is an APS-C 2x macro lens at a very affordable price
Laowa just doesn’t seem to be stopping with new lens announcements lately. This month we’ve had the 4mm f/2.8 Fisheye, 12mm T2.9 cinema lens, a rumoured f/0.95 Argus lens, and just a couple of days ago, a “leaked” 9.5mm ultra-wide rectilinear lens popped up. Now, Laowa has announced the 65mm f/2.8 2x Ultra Macro APO for Sony, Fuji and Canon APS-C mirrorless cameras.
