While my brain has been boiling at 39 degrees for weeks now, I can’t keep my mind of the climate change that’s happening right before our eyes. NASA recently released satellite images that illustrate this change perfectly.
The photos show the “bathtub ring” around Lake Mead taken in 2000, 2021 and 2022. Over the course of just two decades, you can see the rich lake turning into dry crevasses, reducing the America’s largest water reservoir to only 27% of its capacity!
As the world starts to come out of strict lockdown, people are out enjoying themselves again. For some people, enjoyment means finally heading back outside with their cameras. For others, it means harassing random people trying to shoot photos with expensive camera gear and pushing them into lakes.
A video has just surfaced of an event that happened in Verulamium Park in Hertfordshire, England. An unknown man approached a female photographer while she was shooting on the edge of the lake at Verulamium Park and then pushed her right into the water along with her expensive kit, damaging it and causing bruising to her arm.
Even though we may not feel very friendly about our world at the moment, it’s still full of beauty and wonders. Photographer Eric Gross managed to capture a piece of this beauty at Dream Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. He photographed an otherworldly sight of “frozen waves” on the lake’s surface, and the photos are absolutely stunning.

Kristina’s photos are a unique, dreamy blend of fashion and travel photography. The latest SmugMug film follows Kristina on a shoot to southern Siberia’s Lake Baikal: the deepest lake in the world, frozen over for the majority of the year. The place is beautiful on its own, but captured in Kristina’s style, it becomes even more magical.
People of Instagram would do anything for likes, no matter how dangerous, disrespectful or stupid it is. The latest trend on Instagram is taking photos near or in “Novosibirsk Maldives,” a gorgeous azure lake in Siberia. The problem is that a nearby coal plant uses this artificial lake to dump ash, so it’s heavily polluted. But it seems that the Insta-craze has gone so far, that the company running the plant had to issue an official warning against swimming in it.
If your drone’s battery runs out while it’s flying above water, you’re screwed, right? Well, a man named Dave Svorking managed to save his drone a split second before it hit the water surface. And the best of all is – this spectacular rescue was captured by the drone and you can see it in the video below.
Baikal is impressive. It’s the deepest and the cleanest lake on Earth. When we were planning a trip, we didn’t even suspect it is so wonderful, majestic and fairy. We were raptured over its beauty so much, that we almost didn’t sleep all 3 days we were here.
Lake Baikal is about 600km in length. The thickness of it reaches 1,5-2 meters. This ice can tolerate the vehicle of about 15 tonnes, but sometimes we saw cars that had been fallen down. Ice has different patterns in different parts of the lake. It happens because water is freezing layer by layer. Especially it is very interesting to find a fish or a branch in the ice. The ice in Baikal is the most transparent in the world! And this is true. You can see everything till the bottom: fish, green stones, plants and bluish gulf. The water in the lake is so clear, that you can see various objects on the depth of 40 meters.
When photographer and retoucher Erik Johansson decides to create an image, he certainly makes an effort to push the boat out, quite literally in this case.
In a project that took several months to complete, Erik used 17 square meters of mirror to help produce this extraordinary scene, and while there’s certainly a lot of post and retouching going on here, it was a lot of work in the camera, too!
