This Pocket 6K video of a hiking family silhouetted against a rising full moon is just beautiful

When Blackmagic announced the new Pocket Cinema Camera 6K, they did something very different from the launch of the Pocket 4K. They actually started shipping them only a couple of days afterwards. That means they’re already starting to get into peoples hands, and nobody’s complaining about being on backorder.

One filmmaker who’s managed to get his hands on one already is my friend Jesse Watson. You might remember Jesse from his stunning Space X launch timelapse last year, which was picked up by Google for their Year in Search 2018 video, garnering over 113,000,000 views. This time, he’s pointing his camera right towards the full moon.

Last December, we featured a timelapse from photographer and filmmaker Jesse Watson. The timelapse was of the SpaceX Falcon 9 launch near Yuma, Arizona. Well, a couple of nights ago, another one launched and landed from California – the first time Elon’s launched and landed in California. Jesse went out to capture it again and this one’s just as incredible as the last.

When he’s not chasing rockets, photographer Jesse Watson is keeping an eye out for visually impressive weather anomalies. And they don’t get much more impressive than a haboob. A haboob is a type of particularly intense dust storm. They appear quite regularly in dryland areas throughout the world, but this was the largest Jesse had ever seen.

Photographer Jesse Watson has been following the SpaceX launches for quite some time. Fascinated by the footage he has seen, he wanted to make a video of his own, different from what he’s seen in the news. So, before the final SpaceX launch this year, he took his gear and created a timelapse that could easily fit in a science-fiction movie.
