In 2015, director Sean Baker and his crew created feature-length movie Tangerine. You may remember the movie, but also the story behind its creation, as it was filmed entirely with three iPhones. Now one of these iPhones is finding its way to the Academy Museum which opens in 2019, and it will honor the art and science of movies.
World’s first feature length “first person shooter” movie coming soon, to a theatre near you
Shot almost entirely on GoPro cameras, and several years in the making, Hardcore Henry is hoping to set a new standard in action movies.
Described by Engadget as “A mix of Jason Bourne, Captain America, and Call of Duty”, it definitely looks like it’ll be different from pretty much every action movie we’ve ever seen so far.
While we’ve seen the idea before as short sequences in movies such as Doom, designed to mimic the game upon which the film is based, this is the first time an entire movie will have been shot from this perspective.
70 Members of Cast and Crew Were Injured While Making the Most Dangerous Movie Ever
Film sets can be dangerous locations for both man and beast. But, one film takes the cake in terms of hazardous working conditions, with 70 members of the cast and crew being injured during the process.
Roar was shot over the course of 11 years (NOT a typo) and is basically a reality movie with director/producer/actor Noel Marshall (The Exorcist) and his family (including stepdaughter Melanie Griffith) living with 150 untamed and untrained wild animals. As one can imagine, living with a collection of dangerous animals, including lions, tigers, and jaguars, can lead to a little bloodshed. As HitFlix describes it, “It’s Like Walt Diney went insane and shot a snuff version of Swiss Family Robinson.”
New Feature-Length Movie Is Shot Entirely On The iPhone 5S
The iPhone has come a long way since the first generation release in 2007. With more advanced sensors and optics and powerful apps, we have seen a huge uptick in quality work coming from the little devices over the last several years. Now, a feature film shot entirely on the iPhone 5S will be hitting select theaters this weekend. Yes…an actual movie…shot on a smartphone…in theaters. (There was a time when people said man would never fly, either.)
Tangerine is about transexual prostitute Sin-Dee who learns from a friend that her boyfriend (and pimp) was unfaithful to her during her recent incarceration. The film follows Sin-Dee and her best friend on a quest to learn the truth about the rumor. (Warning: Video after the jump contains strong language.)
