Drone pilot fined £3,000 for flying near WW2 Hurricane aircraft

People have been complaining worldwide about drone regulations coming into force. Register this, pay for that, can’t fly there anymore… Well, people like British drone pilot Mark Bagguley are why. The BBC reports he’s been fined £3,000 and given a six-month suspended sentence for flying his drone over a crowd while a NOTAM was in effect, dangerously close to aircraft.

At Buxton Carnival in England, a World War II Hurricane aircraft was doing a flyby as part of a show when visitors spotted what they thought was a bird flying near the plane. One visitor proceeded to photograph it, and it wasn’t until he got home and looked at them on the computer that he released it was a drone. After police saw them, they used social media to track down the offender.

Sigma will repair or replace your hurricane-damaged gear under warranty [updated]

Sigma has recently announced that they will replace or repair any of their equipment damaged in the recent hurricanes. So, in case your Sigma gear has been damaged or destroyed by hurricane Harvey, Irma, or Maria, you’re entitled to have it replaced or repair for free. The conditions are that the gear is still under warranty and that you send it for the repair/replacement by December 31, 2017.

John Aldred is a photographer with over 20 years of experience in the portrait and commercial worlds. Dunja Djudjic is a multi-talented artist based in Novi Sad, Serbia. With 15 years of experience as a photographer, she specializes in capturing the beauty of nature, travel, and fine art. In addition to her photography, Dunja also expresses her creativity through writing, embroidery, and jewelry making.
