During these self-isolation days, there have been all sorts of challenges on social media. To be quite honest, most of them annoy the hell out of me, but I have finally found one that I really, really like. Getty Museum in L.A. has recently challenged its followers on Twitter to recreate their favorite artwork at home. The results quickly came coming in, and they’re as funny as it gets.
Hilarious short film “Breaking social distancing” shows the potential consequences of breaking isolation
I stumbled across this video by LA-based Italian filmmaker Alessandro Serra last night while browsing through social media – as one tends to do a lot more these days. It leapt out at me as I’ve seen a lot of my female friends on Facebook posting that ex-boyfriends they haven’t spoken to for several years have been randomly getting in touch with them since lockdowns have started to come into place around the world.
That’s how Alessandro’s short film, Breaking Social Distancing, begins, with a phone call from a guy to his ex-girlfriend who ultimately agrees to break the “social distancing” guidelines currently in place just about everywhere. What happens after that… Well, you’ll just have to watch.
Can’t get to the gym? Here’s how photographers can stay fit while stuck at home
If you’re a regular gym-goer, you know that the coronavirus outbreak has had all the gyms closed down. And if you’re anything like me, the lack of physical activity makes you feel sad and nervous. But worry not: Gerald Undone has a perfect solution for stuck-at-home photographers and filmmakers. He has teamed up with a few “camera fitness experts” to bring you a series of exercises that you can do at home with your camera gear. That’s right, your gear won’t only help you keep your creativity in shape, but also your body. So let’s get started.
This is what photo shoots look like in self-isolation
Even though current situation with the coronavirus is no joke, I firmly believe that humor is still necessary to keep us sane. Thanks to photographer Kate Whyte, I had my dose of laughter today. In a short and humorous video, she showed what photo shoots look like when both photographer and model are self-isolated, each in their own home.
“The Grand Tour” comically illustrated three types of wildlife photographers, and they nailed it
There are different types of photographers, that’s for sure. I don’t know if there are only two of them or as many as 30, but one can certainly take a comical twist on the differences between photographers. This is exactly what guys from The Grand Tour did. In this video, Richard Hammond, Jeremy Clarkson and James May got together, playing wildlife photographers who compare the gear they bought. It’s absolutely hilarious, and some of you will probably recognize themselves in it.
How many Facebook photography group members does it take to change a lightbulb?
This came to us via an anonymous source who said they saw it posted in a group they’re in on Facebook. I think it pretty accurately sums up the way many conversations go in Facebook photography groups. And, well, it’s about lighting, so…

WLOS ABC 13 anchor Justin Hinton recently made people worldwide laugh while he was doing an on-location report. He accidentally left face filters turned on during a live report he was broadcasting on Facebook. The video has quickly gone viral across social networks, and it’s no wonder because it’s absolutely hilarious!
Dad Bods: recreating modern senior photos with dads as models
One of the greatest joys in life as a father is the ability to embarrass our kids. Nothing makes us happier as dads then throwing out some completely irrelevant and perfectly timed dad joke. Or maybe it’s the joys of embarrassing our teen daughters while she’s hanging out with her friends, it’s the best time to bust a dance move, even if it’s in line at Chik-Fil-A.
The Canadian Internet Registration Authority has a free stock photo library, and it’s hilarious
Even though it’s not their primary purpose, stock photography websites can be a source of hilarious images. But the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) made a stock photo gallery with the sole purpose of being funny. The gallery is filled with photos that poke fun at most common stereotypes about Canada, and it’s absolutely hilarious.
Watch as this commercial shows you how not to act on set as a boom operator
It’s funny how commercials have a way of completely escaping your memory, and then seem to resurface again every few years. This is one of them. Directed by Trevor Clarence, this 2009 ad for South African franchise of the restaurant chain Wimpy illustrates just how careful you need to be as a microphone boom operator, especially around delicate sets.
