This tiny hummingbird drone films a Monarch Butterflies swarm from up close
Hidden cameras have given us stunning footage of wildlife that we never would have seen otherwise. PBS has employed a pretty interesting one in the mountains of Mexico. It’s a tiny spy hummingbird that has infiltrated into the heart of a huge monarch butterfly swarm. It has filmed the incredible spectacle from up close, and it’s definitely not something you see every day.
Photographer captures hummingbirds in slo-mo with only an iPhone and a Moment lens
I can never get enough of hummingbird videos. These fast little birds can be difficult to capture, but nowadays, only a smartphone is enough for a pretty awesome slow-motion video. Phil Torres of The Jungle Diaries has captured wonderful video of colorful hummingbirds using nothing but an iPhone X’s slo-mo feature and a wide-angle Moment lens.
Researchers Use Slow Motion to Study Hummingbird Flight; Will Improve Drone Stability
Drones have evolved from hobbyist toys to professional tools as the FAA partnered with CNN to establish a drone usage protocol for journalists and started issuing exemptions allowing commercial use.
In order for these tools to succeed in the fields above, let alone search and rescue missions, commercial delivery and monitor livestock farms, they need to be more reliable and able to operate in less-than-ideal weather.
Australian and American researchers took a high-speed camera and set out to find out how ruby-throated hummingbirds cope in turbulent winds.
The study could lead to drones getting ‘tails’.
