As the holiday season is nearly upon us, and we are about to get drowned in a sea of Tinsel and mistletoe. I thought it would be a good time to give you a breakdown of one of my older images, Bad Santa. So put on your festive jumpers, grab a cup of Eggnog and settle down by the stockings because we are about to get festive!
Build a spooky Halloween horror set for under $100
With Halloween already over for half of the planet, it might be a bit late for this video. But, it’s never the wrong time to put a spooky horror set together for a photo shoot. With that in mind, here’s Jay P Morgan from The Slanted Lens to show us how he built this Halloween set in his living room for under $100.

Use your non photography interests to step out of your comfort zone
We all get that feeling sometimes when we look at our work and we feel we have been creating the same kind of images for too long without experimenting. It is good to create a portfolio of work which showcases your skill in one style, but we as artists still need to experiment to grow and to keep ourselves from going insane.
A good way of being inspired to experiment is to look through your body of work, find an area you haven’t really dabbled in then put on your experimenting hat and get stuck in.
This photographer creates miniature horror scenes with Lego
Lego characters make the most amazing subjects, they really do. It’s just like photographing people, but on a smaller scale. They’re more reliable, too. They show up, on time, do whatever you want them to, and don’t try to defame you all over the media. So, it’s no wonder they’re such a popular subject.
They’re a particular favourite for photographer Juhamatti Vahdersalo. Although, he’s gonna quite dark with his Lego characters. But why not? Nobody said the world in which toys live has to be all unicorns and rainbows. And these certainly aren’t.

I contacted Adam to get some insight into the dark depths of his mind.

If you take a left turn from the comfort of your usual photography sites and safe viewing places you might notice there is at them moment a wealth of darker delights for you to find. Images that shock, awe and downright creep you out. Horror photography seems to be having a little boost right now, with many cool artists forwarding the genre. One of these artists is Thomas G Anderson the winner of this years I-horror horror photographer of the year award. I had the pleasure of interviewing Thomas for DIY.
