I find sharks a bit scary, but at the same time incredibly fascinating. Wildlife photographer Chris Fallows has depicted this impression of mine in his fantastic photo of a great white shark. In the image that has gone viral shortly after it was published, Chris managed to capture the incredible animal 12 feet in the air. He kindly shared his photo with us, along with some other images that he’s taken.
We’ve seen quite a few terrifying encounters of photographers and wild animals. In this video from Gabe and Garrett, an underwater photographer came face to face with a Great White shark when it breached the cage he was in. The incident was caught in a video, and it will give you chills for sure!
Nothing like saddling up and taking a rotting whale carcass out for a ride in the ocean. Especially when there’s a shiver of great white sharks engaged in a feeding frenzy on it. As crazy as that may sound, a researcher and photographer in South Africa can add these exact circumstances to his resume. Seriously.

A warning: this video might cost you tonight’s sleep
Do you remember Jaws? One of the reasons Spielberg’s film was as terrifying as it was is because of how little we see of the beast itself; the suspense was carried by the silence before the attack.
When you watch this video, check out how the sharks approach the vessel and keep that in mind. They stay below, utilizing the deepness of the water to sneak up on it. They stay hidden; they don’t let you see them until they’ve already sunk their teeth in. And you’re able to watch it unfold face-to-face because of how far photography’s come today.
