A rock climber in Japan managed to film the moment that a bear attacked him as he was descending after a climb. The incident happened on Mount Futago near Chichibu City, Saitama Prefecture, Japan. The climber was wearing a GoPro Hero 10 attached to his helmet and captured the whole ordeal in first person close up.

All seems well at the beginning of the video as we watch the climber carefully descend from his climb, his breathing steady. Suddenly a black bear appears almost out of nowhere.

I suppose this had to happen eventually. They’re probably sick of seeing people strip down their beloved flagships to get them as small and as light as possible but GoPro has now officially announced the new GoPro Hero 10 Black Bones. It’s a stripped-down version of the Hero 10 Black, featuring the same sensor and processor and is capable of capturing up to 5K 30fps or 4K 60fps stabilised video footage.

And by “stripped-down”, it means it has no screen, no speakers, no water and dust resistance, doors or even a slot for a battery. They’ve done everything they can to strip out anything unnecessary to make it as compact and lightweight as possible for use on DIY FPV drones. Honestly, I’m amazed it took them this long!

You may have heard that there’s a delivery and chip-related apocalypse on the way that will rip away any remaining joy from this coming holiday season. But don’t worry, GoPro has reported that they have planned ahead with their suppliers and are on target for being able to fulfil the holiday season orders for their cameras this year despite these shortages.

GoPro HERO 9 vs HERO 10: Should you upgrade or not?

I use the GoPro Hero cameras all the time for my video productions, but not for action. I like the tiny Hero’s for moving car shots, street walking and just general situations where a little camera can be placed in out of the way places to pick up my shot.

So when the Hero 10 arrived for review, with an emphasis on improved stabilization and power, I knew who to call to help me do a 10 vs. 9 shootout.

So GoPro announced its latest round of action cameras in the form of the GoPro Hero 10 recently. As usual, it’s seen a lot of hype, although perhaps a little less than in previous years. One thing there’s definitely been no shortage of, though, is reviews. Overall, they’ve been largely positive, talking about the slow-motion, stabilisation and other features.

But it seems to have one huge flaw – at least for some users. When shooting 5.3K 60p footage with “zero airflow”, it’ll overheat and stop recording in just 20 minutes. YouTuber GadgetsBoy highlighted the issue in his review video, and GoPro has confirmed the limit and gone on further to say that the 4K 60fps limit is 25 minutes.
