Speedlights and strobes can be quite intimidating to new photographers who’ve never had personal experience with them before. Particularly strobes. They’re really not all that difficult to get to grips with. There is a learning curve, for sure, but it’s a fairly short one to get going with the basics.

Photographer Mark Duffy recently gave a tutorial on the basics of strobes in a live stream for UK gear distributor, Transcontinenta. Not wanting to limit the information contained within to just the live stream viewers, Mark’s also shared a copy of the stream to his YouTube channel for everybody else to enjoy, too.

TurtleRig bulb extensions say they provide up to a whole stop of extra light with Godox strobes

One of the big problems with the Godox AD600 and AD600 TTL was the position of the bulb relative to the modifiers. It just sat a little too far back into the head, and many people felt they weren’t getting the power they should. Godox largely solved this problem with the AD600Pro and AD400Pro, but there are still many AD600 owners out there.

TurtleRig has now announced its newest solution to this problem, with their version 3 bulb extensions. Essentially, they’re shims which sit between the strobe head and the bulb, offering extension pins to bring the bulb out further from the modifier. They’re available for the original AD600 models as well as several other Godox strobes.

The Godox AD200Pro offers 1.8sec recycle, 1/10th stop adjustments, better colour and uses the same heads as the AD200

The Godox AD200 has been out for a couple of years now. But ever since the release of the AD600Pro and AD400Pro, customers have been asking for an updated AD200 with the colour consistency and performance of its larger siblings. Now, the Godox AD200Pro is here, it’s real, and it offers that same level of colour consistency, with 1.8 second recycle times, 1/10th stop power increments and a new recessed LCD panel for better protection.

Flashpoint-branded Godox AD200Pro appears on Adorama website

As a follow up to my post from a couple of days ago, it looks like there is indeed a Godox AD200Pro coming quite soon. The launch of this model was inevitable, really, however, I don’t think many people expected it might come so quickly – especially as many are still waiting for those AD400Pro modifiers & remote head, V1 round head speedlight and other bits.

But now Flashpoint eVOLV200 Pro listing has appeared on the Adorama website, first spotted by the folks at Godox.blog, which definitely isn’t just your original AD200. It appears to have the same form factor, but with some rather noticeable differences – like the redesigned LCD to help offer it a little more protection.

Godox is getting ready to announce an AD200Pro hybrid strobe

It’s been two years now since Godox released the original AD200 flash. With a swappable head system, it was pretty unique for its time. Since then, Godox has stepped up their game, releasing the AD600 Pro and AD400 Pro strobes with better colour accuracy and super fast recycle times. Now it looks like the AD200 is going to be getting the “Pro” treatment.

A screenshot of a post from Godox posted to Chinese social media site, Weibo clearly states the term “AD200Pro”. After a little digging, it appears to have been shot during WPPI2019, and is an image by Australian Godox ambassador Aries Tao. And multiple independent (very trusted) sources have confirmed to DIYP that a Godox AD200 Pro is on the way.
