Canon will finally offer a microphone input and 4K video with the G7X Mark III

In a dwindling compact camera market, the Canon G7X Mark II has proven to remain very popular – particularly amongst vloggers. It’s a fantastic little camera for what it is and has received many great reviews since its release in 2016. But many people all had the same complaint. It only shoots 1080p.

The G7X line’s major competitor is Sony’s RX100 series, and those have shot 4K ever since the Sony RX100 IV was released back in 2015. But now Canon looks to finally be catching up after Nokishita leaks specs and photos for the soon-to-be-officially-announced Canon G7X Mark III. It shoots 4K, and even has an external microphone socket!

Canon to finally add 4K video to upcoming G7X Mark III

It seems that the Canon will finally add 4K video to the G7X line in a Mark III refresh, if a post on Canon Rumors is to be believed. It’s been a long demanded feature and the sole reason why many still choose to go with the Sony RX100 models over the G7X line for things like vlogging.

CR says that they have received some specs, but that they come from an unconfirmed source. But given the specs of the previous model G7X Mark II, the suggested specs for a Mark III incarnation don’t seem too out of line.

Panasonic G7 Leaked Specs and Photos

Specs and photos of the Panasonic Lumix DMC-G7 mirrorless micro four thirds camera have been leaked, and the most noticeable change is the design. The curves have changed to straighter lines, but that’s not the only difference.

The camera is said to offer 4K video, the same DFD autofocus technology as the GH4 and an improved electronic view finder, among other things.

Dave Williams is an accomplished travel photographer, writer, and best-selling author from the UK. He is also a photography educator and published Aurora expert. Dave has traveled extensively in recent years, capturing stunning images from around the world in a modified van. His work has been featured in various publications and he has worked with notable brands such as Skoda, EE, Boeing, Huawei, Microsoft, BMW, Conde Nast, Electronic Arts, Discovery, BBC, The Guardian, ESPN, NBC, and many others.

John Aldred is a photographer with over 20 years of experience in the portrait and commercial worlds. He is based in Scotland and has been an early adopter - and occasional beta tester - of almost every digital imaging technology in that time. As well as his creative visual work, John uses 3D printing, electronics and programming to create his own photography and filmmaking tools and consults for a number of brands across the industry.

Dunja Djudjic is a multi-talented artist based in Novi Sad, Serbia. With 15 years of experience as a photographer, she specializes in capturing the beauty of nature, travel, and fine art. In addition to her photography, Dunja also expresses her creativity through writing, embroidery, and jewelry making.
