Fuji shooters: Do not use the app to update your camera’s firmware or it could freeze your camera

It seems that Fuji is having a bit of an issue with firmware updates through the Camera Remote app on either a smartphone or tablet, according to an announcement put out by the company. It doesn’t seem to affect every camera, although, with some, the camera freezes after installing the firmware update from the app. It’s expected to be updated and fixed in the next few days, but for now, if you own the Fuji X-T30, X-T30 II, X-S10, X-T3, X-T4 or X-T5, you’ll want to avoid updating the firmware through the app for now.

This doesn’t mean you can’t update your firmware, however. Fujifilm has made the firmware updates available for download so that you can still update from your SD card. Fujifilm says that the freezing issue does not occur when using the SD card.

The Fujifilm X-T30 II is now shipping but supplies are low

Announced in September 2021, the Fujifilm X-T30 II was reported to begin shipping the following month, in October. Apparently, though, this date seemingly got pushed back until January 2021. Well, now January 2021 is here and the Fujifilm X-T30 II is now shipping, with a number of retailers having the camera in stock and ready to send out the door.

Supplies, however, look to be pretty low, with some retailers already sold out and Amazon reporting only 10 body-only packages in stock (2 silver and 8 black). Other retailers, such as B&H do have them, of course, they don’t report their stock levels and there’s no telling when retailers might get more in once these body-only packages have sold.

When you’re just getting started in photography and you know nothing about the gear, choosing which camera to buy is a challenge. There are so many out there these days and they all offer a range of unique and confusing features that might better suit a different kind of user or type of photography. So, we’ve picked nine of the best mirrorless cameras that don’t cost a fortune but will allow you to grow and develop as your photography needs expand.

We’ve set the spending limit at $1,000 for this list, although some of the cameras here are significantly less expensive than that. Do bear in mind, that with the global silicon shortage, some of these cameras may be easier to acquire than others at the moment, but we’ve tried to pick ones that still seem quite readily available where possible.

Fujifilm rumoured to be announcing the X-T30 II (?) and GFX50S II on September 2nd

Well, this is an odd one. Rather than making the Fujifilm X-T30 successor the X-T40, as logical numbering would dictate given Fujifilm’s history, they’re apparently going to be calling it the X-T30 II, according to a report on Fuji Rumors. There aren’t many details on this at all, really, or any, but it’s expected to be announced on September 2nd, alongside the much anticipated Fujifilm GFX50S II.

Exactly what the two cameras will bring to the table over their predecessors is unknown, but knowing Fuji, it’ll probably be something pretty awesome. Then a few weeks after the pre-orders open up, they’ll announce firmware for the old ones to bring them close to the spec of the new ones.
