The news that Antonelli Institute is closing down was what triggered Jared to start this topic. After 80 years of working, this school is now educating their last generation of photographers and graphic designers. And it’s not the only school closing down in the past couple of years. So naturally, this raises a question – do we need photography schools any longer?
Sometimes ranting about things works. On Friday, Jared Polin of FroKnowsPhoto posted a rant in which he expressed his frustration with Live Nation about their policy of not paying photographers for their work while retaining the rights to the images.
After replying to a job ad looking for photographers to cover the opening of their new Ascend Amphitheater, Polin was informed that the position “is a great opportunity to build a portfolio.” In response, Polin made a video as an open letter to Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino. In his original bog post, Jared urged readers to “share this out with the world and lets make Michael Rapino hear that he needs to make a change inside his company and #RespectPhotographers.” And, apparently, it worked.
It’s been over a year since the first 512GB memory cards were announced, but it was usually their price that drew most of the attention, and it’s quite understandable why considering they can cost more than some DSLRs.
While we all knew that 512GB is massive, Jared Polin (aka FroKnowsPhoto) really drives it home in this video. After sharing with his viewers that the D4s can shoot over 13,000 RAW files, he was asked how many JPEGs could fit in the card.
It took a while for the card to load due to its ridiculous capacity but, the results show that some people will never again have to swap their memory card. EVER.
