Stabilization is definitely one of the essential things to have in mind while shooting and processing the video. Computer engineers from Duke University have come up with an algorithm that quickly resolves the problem of blur caused by the shaky footage. This solution looks at the problem from a fresh angle and resolves it in a new way. And it’s now even integrated into Adobe After Effects.

This stabilization algorithm helps you handle blurry videos in a quick and efficient manner. The scientists behind the code shared the way it works, as well as some sample footage to see the software in action.

Even if you’re trying to be as rock steady as possible with your footage, the camera almost inevitably moves in a way you hadn’t counted on. Shooting stills and video with drones is ridiculously popular, and shows no signs of slowing down. A lot of drone shots, though, are very much just the same old thing everybody else is doing. Occasionally, though, you come across something special and interesting. The work of 20-year old Gabriel Scanu is such a thing.

Looking at Gabriel’s Instagram feed, you can’t help but constantly catch yourself saying “wow!”. Based in Sydney, Australia, Gabriel has art running through his veins. The son of a cinematographer, Gabriel was introduced to capturing life on film at the age of 12 and he’s been hooked ever since. While his Instagram does contain locations all over the world, his images of Australia are particularly amazing.

Camera stabilisation has come a long way over the last few years, but one thing you just can’t get around is the weight.  The more motors and electronics you have to add, the heavier it gets, and if you’re using a DSLR or bigger camera with a large lens, forget about it.

Netherlands based Filmmaker and YouTuber Chung Dha has come up with an ingenious way to help alleviate some of the weight of his Feiyu Tech MG stabilizer, and prevent his arms from becoming tired on long shoots.
