Canon recalls some EOS R10 bodies over “loud noises”

Canon has issued a recall over some Canon EOS R10 (buy here) bodies. Canon hasn’t said much about the issue except to say that some users have experienced a “loud noise” when the built-in popup flash fires. They describe it as a “bachi” sound – whatever that means. Update: Canon USA’s announcement clarifies this as a “crackling” sound.

Despite the service notice being posted to the Canon Japan website, this doesn’t only affect EOS R10 cameras sold in Japan. It appears to be a global issue, as a notification has also popped up on the Canon USA website since I started writing this post. The serial number checker also exists on Canon’s global website, not a regional one.

As one of the giants of the camera manufacturing world, Canon needs little introduction. But having a major bite of the pie doesn’t stop them from being innovative. In the past couple of months, we have seen two brand new mirrorless cameras launched, plus at least four new lenses.

Canon introduced their two mirrorless APS-C mirrorless cameras in July 2022, and they haven’t disappointed. DIYP spoke to Justin Botha from Canon to discover more about the EOS R7 and EOS R10 cameras, and to see what the rest of 2022 has in store for Canon.
