In response to a surge in attacks by vigilantes targeting enforcement cameras, Transport for London (TfL) has unveiled a robust solution: the ‘armoured’ cameras.

These incidents of vandalism and theft have sparked Scotland Yard’s involvement, launching investigations into numerous cases ahead of the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) expansion scheduled for August 29th in the Greater London area.

The impact of wildfires on the Australian outback and wildlife was devasting. The 2019-2020 season was particularly bad, causing unprecedented harm and affecting over 3 billion animals. Of course, it takes time for the environment to recover from such an event, and conservationists are monitoring the recovery via AI technology and a network of cameras.

Seven million photos from around 1,100 sensor-activated cameras in eight bushfire-affected areas across Australia were collected and analysed. The project is a collaboration between the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), Conservation International, and local land managers.

Sony wants its business to be carbon neutral and using 100% renewable energy by 2030

Sony has announced an acceleration of its carbon neutrality goal, bringing its goal of carbon neutrality throughout its entire value chain forward by ten years from 2050 to 2040. As a member of the RE100 initiative, Sony’s other goal is to achieve 100% of its power from renewable energy, becoming carbon neutral in its own operations. This is also being sped up by a decade, bringing the date forward from 2040 to 2030.

This isn’t a new effort and Sony says they’ve been pursuing environmental principles of responsibility and contribution since the early 1990s. In 2010, the company announced “Road to Zero”, a long-term plan to achieve carbon neutrality throughout Sony’s entire chain, including suppliers and logistics. Bringing both goals forward by a decade is going to be a significant challenge, but Sony seems determined.
