“Shaky video is dead!” proclaims GoPro after strapping the Hero 7 to an eagle

Ever since the GoPro Hero7 leaked online, the emphasis was on the new and improved stabilization. Then, the company promised “hypersmooth” and “gimbal-like stabilization” when the camera was announced. To show off the capabilities of the new Hero 7, GoPro strapped the camera to an eagle and let it fly over a soccer field. And apparently, they weren’t joking when they said that “shaky video is dead.”

Finally, Dutch police shuts down the drone-catching eagles program

You might remember that police in the Netherlands were training eagles to take drones out of the sky. After almost two years they have decided to shut down the program.

This controversial program had caused significant concern among animal activists who questioned how harmful it would be to the birds. After nearly two years the birds are being retired and reportedly sent to new homes.

Mining company loses 9 surveillance drones – because of eagles

Earlier this year, we were quite surprised (to say the least) by the information that Dutch police were training eagles to take down drones. And what’s more, it seems that the weird approach against UAVs worked. But it appears eagles in Australia require no training to do it. Because they started seeing surveillance drones as their prey, a mining giant Gold Fields has lost nine drones!

This is how trained eagles knock drones out of the sky

Remember that funny story about eagles being trained to clean the airspace of illegal drones? Well, things just got serious. The program started with one eagle, so the chances of the bird catching a drone somewhere in the duch airspace were pretty random. but the program is gaining momentum and more eagles are begin trained.

For some of us, just seeing a white-tailed eagle in the wild would be a treat. Polish wildlife photographer Krzysztof Chomicz has seen plenty. Lately, he saw one in a situation he didn’t like, drowning in thick mud.

Without hesitation, he went out to save it. This isn’t the first time, either. Chomicz rescued another white-tailed eagle last year from a similar predicament. This time, the whole ordeal was caught on a drone’s camera.
