Retailers leak complete Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG DN Art specs, photos and prices early

It’s not really much of a surprise that with the official announcement expected tomorrow we’re seeing leaks. This time, though, it doesn’t come from Nokishita. Well, it sort of does, but not directly. This time they’re just the messenger. British retailer Campkins Cameras and Dutch retailer Foto Konijnenberg both published complete product listings for the upcoming Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG DN Art series lens for L & E mounts a day early.

According to the now-removed listings (thanks, Google Cache!), the UK price will be £745 with the EU price coming in at €849. This tallies up with the previously rumoured $899 price for the USA. The specs pretty much confirm those leaked by Nokishita a few days ago, and also offers up a couple more that weren’t in the previous leak.

Sony’s new “Ultra-Compact” FE 24mm, 40mm & 50mm G lenses announced at $600 each

Sony has now officially announced its tiny trio of compact full-frame E mount primes. The set is comprised of FE 24mm f/2.8, 40mm f/2.5 and 50mm f/2.5 G lenses, although they’re probably not quite as inexpensive as you might have been expecting.

The lenses are priced at $599 each for all three 24mm, 40mm and 50mm focal lengths – which, given their relatively slow apertures, doesn’t sound all that great, but their compact size is definitely very attractive.

It’s been rumoured for a while, but now it’s finally here. Sony has now officially announced its new Sony FE 50mm f/1.2 G Master lens. Sony says it’s their 60th lens in the E mount lineup (I think they missed a trick there and should have released it 10 lenses ago, but nevermind) and offers “exquisite bokeh and high-performance autofocus in a compact and lightweight design”.

The Sony FE 50mm f/1.2 GM is made of 14 elements in 10 groups. Three of those are what Sony calls “XA” (extreme aspherical) elements that they say contribute to high resolution across the entire image, even when wide open at f/1.2. It’s not cheap, though, coming in significantly more expensive than Canon’s 50mm f/1.2L.

According to a Twitter post from Nokishita, Sigma is getting ready to announce three new lenses. They’re DG DN lenses, designed specifically for Sony E and Leica L mirrorless mount cameras. The news comes by way of leaked product photos of each of the three lenses, but other than that, there’s not much info to go on just yet.

The three lenses are the 24mm f/3.5 DG DN, 35mm f/2 DG DN, and 65mm f/2 DG DN – as we can see from the text emblazoned on photos of the three lenses. We can also see that they have filter diameters of 55mm, 58mm and 62mm respectively, have manual aperture rings and lens hoods. That’s pretty much it, really. An official announcement is expected on December 1st.

All the crazy lens adapter combos seem to be coming out of the woodwork now. Yesterday we had the Leica M to Nikon Z adapter, which adds autofocus capability to those old manual focus lenses, and today we’ve got the Monster Adapter LA-KE1, which lets you use your Pentax K mount AF lenses to Sony E and retain autofocus aperture control and EXIF data.

You can’t buy it just yet, though. The company has announced that it has entered the “internal testing stage” and they plan to make the adapter available before the end of the year.

Yongnuo just announced a new 35mm f/2 lens for full-frame Sony E mount

Yongnuo has announced a new YN35mm F2S DF DSM lens for full-frame Sony E Mount cameras. It appears to not just be their existing 35mm f/2 for DSLRs with an extended barrel, either, but a completely new lens design. Whether or not it’s their own design or they’ve “borrowed” somebody else’s, I don’t know, but this one does seem as if it may be designed specifically for mirrorless cameras.

The lens is constructed of 9 elements in 8 groups including one aspherical element and one low dispersion element. The elements have a Nano-multilayer coating which Yongnuo says helps to improve light transmittance while suppressing ghosting and flare.

A new patent from Sigma, spotted by the folks at Hi Lows Note, describes three new full-frame lenses designed for mirrorless camera systems – the Leica L and Sony E mount systems. The lenses described by the patent are a 14mm f/2, a 14mm f/2.8 and a rather intriguing 12mm f/2.8.

There is currently a Sigma 14mm f/1.8 DG HSM Art series lens available for both Leica L and Sony E mounts, however, it’s essentially their DSLR lens with an extended barrel to fix the flange distance. The patent suggests a new replacement model could be imminent!

Zenit is expected to announce some new lenses in September or October, according to various reports. Sony Alpha Rumours says that three lenses will be announced in October, including a 35mm f/2.0, a 58mm f/1.8 and a 60mm f/2.8 Macro – all for Sony E Mount.

Photar, however, believes that the 60mm Macro will be getting shown off “in the fall” and specifically states the 35mm f/2 as coming in September. They also say that the 60mm f/2.8 Macro will be for Canon EF and Nikon F, with no mention of Sony.

Well, after a few days of leaks and excitement, Sigma’s new 85mm f/1.4 DG DN Art Lens for Sony E and Leica L mount has officially been announced. It might not quite be the “half the size and half the weight” of the DSLR-modified 85mm f/1.4 Art for Sony E, but it’s pretty close!

The new lens isn’t just for Sony E mount, though. It’s for mirrorless systems in general. At the moment, that means it’s also available for the Leica L mount for use with all of the cameras in the Sigma/Panasonic/Leica L mount alliance.
