The dual camera system is still relatively new and it’s mainly integrated into high-end phones. However, Samsung will soon enable dual camera features even in cheaper smartphones. The company has introduced ISOCELL Dual image sensors and proprietary software for achieving bokeh effect and low light shooting.
Israeli start-up sues Apple over alleged dual camera patent infringement
It seems like Apple’s always in the news for some alleged patent infringement. Or taking somebody else to court for it. Although, primarily that patent war has been going on between Apple and Samsung. Now, though, The Marker reports that Israel-based Corephotonics has entered the fray. They’ve filed a patent infringement case against Apple in US federal court.
The suit alleges that Apple have infringed their patent which covers dual camera technology. That this technology has already been incorporated into devices like the iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 8 Plus without their authorisation.
This free bokeh app makes the best out of your iPhone photos
iPhone’s “Portrait Mode” is a rather useful feature, and gives neat results. You can even see more and more magazine covers shot on iPhone with the “Portrait Mode”. But, if you don’t like the effect or simply want to add some versatility to it – check out a free app named Focos.
This app lets you add more types of bokeh to the photos you take with your iPhone – from creamy to swirly. The developers promise a “real bokeh effect,” and judging from the sample photos, the bokeh really does look good.
The iPhone 7 Plus has two cameras shooting a single image
OK, so we already know that the iPhone 7 Plus will have two lense for about two hours, but now Apple shares all the details on the new iPhone seven camera and they are pretty impressive. (I am sure someone will come up with a comparisson like this soon enough).
Both the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus have 12MP cameras. The iPhone 7 has an f/1.8 lens. But the big news is that the iPhone 7 Plus will have dual lenses and two cameras behind them. A an f/1.8 Wide-angle, and an f/2.8 Telephoto. The interesting bit is that both cameras can shoot together to create a single image. That added data can be used for several rather interesting applications.
Amazon leak iPhone 7 info a little too early. Confirms dual cameras in the 7+
Well, it looks like Amazon have GoPro staff working there at the moment. They seem to have jumped the gun and started promoting iPhone 7 cases ahead of Apple’s official announcement.
The cases shown definitely seem to confirm that the iPhone7 will contain a single rear camera while the 7+ will have a dual lens system.
Apple patent teases optical zoom module that could appear inside the iPhone 7
Implementing optical zoom into a smartphone camera has proven to be a challenge. Many companies have attempted to circumvent the physical restrictions of creating a telephoto inside a smartphone, but none have successfully done so on a commercial level.
That could change though, now that Apple is looking to get into the game of smartphone telephoto technology.[Read More…]
Apple Patented a Dual-Camera Design; Awesomeness Could Ensue
Back in April Apple acquired Israeli-startup LinX, specializing in computational imaging, and it seems the giant from Cupertino might be putting the new technology to good use – at least in its patents.
A recent patent application describes a mobile camera system with multiple cameras, and its applications could be truly remarkable.
