A former pro surfer Mike Lambresi recently had an accident that almost had him killed. While trying to take a photo, he lost his footing and fell. As a result, he suffered terrible injuries that may even cost him his foot.
I don’t think we’ve had a stupid-selfie post for a while, but here’s a good one. A woman who has not been publicly identified had her vehicle meet a chilling end when she chose to drive across a frozen river in Ottawa, Canada. As she drove across, she hit a weak spot in the ice that caused her car to crash through its surface. While onlookers were figuring out how to get her out of there safely, she climbed onto the car’s roof to shoot a selfie while it began to sink beneath her feet.
While I’ll bet it made for a great photo on her Instagram feed, I’m not sure it was the wisest of decisions. Of course, driving over a frozen lake doesn’t really indicate the possession of much wisdom in the first place.
A woman in India recently fell to her death while trying to take a selfie by a waterfall. The woman was reportedly taking a selfie on the edge and lost her balance, after which the strong water current swept her away.
A 26-year-old woman from India has taken her own life by accident while posing for a selfie. She was posing with a shotgun last week and reportedly didn’t know that it had been loaded. According to the reports, she accidentally pulled the trigger, and taking a selfie turned into a tragedy.

Sadly, it’s not that rare that people get injured or even killed while trying to take selfies with wild animals. On Saturday, 9 March, another case of selfie-related attack occurred when a woman got to close to a zoo fence in order to snap some selfies with a jaguar.
Plenty of selfie-related accidents and deaths happen each year, and the majority of them occur in India. In an attempt to increase safety at popular tourist spots, the country is about to introduce “no-selfie zones,” where visitors, as you can guess, won’t be allowed to take selfies.
