Luminar 3 comes with the “Libraries” digital asset management system and batch editing

It’s been a long time coming, but Luminar 3 has officially been announced today. It ships out on December 18th and it comes with Libraries – that’s the name for their new digital asset management system. Luminar 3 is a major overhaul of the software and now allows you to organise and edit multiple images simultaneously – so, yes, now you can batch edit!

This has been a hotly anticipated update for many Luminar users, and those who’ve considered switching to Luminar. And with the addition of a DAM, Luminar just became a lot more appealing – especially as there are no recurring subscription costs.

Skylum’s Digital Asset Manager is coming as a free beta update for Luminar 2018 users

There’s still no word on exactly when Skylum will deliver its Digital Asset Management (DAM) system, but it is most definitely on the way. Skylum have posted screenshots of the prototype software, and have also announced that it will be coming as a free beta for existing Skylum Luminar 2018 users. They’ll also receive a free copy of the final release version, too.

Macphun arming themselves for the war against “Lightroom Classic”

With Lightroom CC shifting into the cloud, there’s a lot of doubt amongst fans of the former desktop application. They question Adobe’s commitment to the future of the Classic desktop platform, given the big push toward “the cloud”. If this indeed becomes the case, it’s left many users wondering where to go next. Right now, there’s two potential names that spring to mind. Affinity and Macphun.

The latter of those got in touch with DIYP today. Machpun tell us that they have received a lot of questions in response to yesterday’s announcement from Adobe. Users want to know what their plans are for creating a Lightroom alternative. So, now Macphun have a sort-of announcement to make of their own. They’re working on a Digital Asset Management (DAM) application for both Mac and Windows.
