Corel PaintShop Pro gets a 2020 update with “intelligent” editing tools for photographers

Other than Windows Paint, Paint Shop Pro was the first imaging application I’d ever used. It was in the 90s, Windows 95 hadn’t even been released yet, and “Paint Shop” was still two words. So, it was fairly crude by today’s standards, but at the time it seemed like magic. I didn’t even realise they were still around until a few months ago, but now they seem to back in full force.

Corel has today announced PaintShop Pro 2020; The latest version of its all-in-one photo editing and graphic design suite for photographers, designers and content creators.

Corel PhotoMirage creates animated images from still photos

Creating cinemagraphs and animated images from stills has become something of a trend in the last few years. Yes, the idea has been around for a while, and some techniques can even be used to fake camera moves. While doing it in After Effects can be a bit of a challenge, Corel’s new PhotoMirage software wants to make it as easy as possible.

Wacom Introduces New “Intuos Photo” Graphics Tablet

If you’ve been thinking about picking up a graphics tablet to help you get your post production workflow on lock, you may want to check out the latest addition to the Wacom family. The popular graphics tablet manufacturer has added new Pen & Touch tablets, which will come in four different “models”–the Pen & Touch Intuos Art, the Intuos Comic, the Intuos Photo, and the Intuos Draw.

The reason for the quotes is there is no real difference between the Art, Comic, and Photo models, except for the software which comes bundled with the hardware.  The Intuos Draw differs in that it only works using the pen and offers no touch functionality.[Read More…]

Alex Baker is a portrait and lifestyle driven photographer based in Valencia, Spain. She works on a range of projects from commercial to fine art and has had work featured in publications such as The Daily Mail, Conde Nast Traveller and El Mundo, and has exhibited work across Europe

Dave Williams is an accomplished travel photographer, writer, and best-selling author from the UK. He is also a photography educator and published Aurora expert. Dave has traveled extensively in recent years, capturing stunning images from around the world in a modified van. His work has been featured in various publications and he has worked with notable brands such as Skoda, EE, Boeing, Huawei, Microsoft, BMW, Conde Nast, Electronic Arts, Discovery, BBC, The Guardian, ESPN, NBC, and many others.

John Aldred is a photographer with over 20 years of experience in the portrait and commercial worlds. He is based in Scotland and has been an early adopter - and occasional beta tester - of almost every digital imaging technology in that time. As well as his creative visual work, John uses 3D printing, electronics and programming to create his own photography and filmmaking tools and consults for a number of brands across the industry.

Dunja Djudjic is a multi-talented artist based in Novi Sad, Serbia. With 15 years of experience as a photographer, she specializes in capturing the beauty of nature, travel, and fine art. In addition to her photography, Dunja also expresses her creativity through writing, embroidery, and jewelry making.
