If you’ve ever watched a cat or a dog sleeping, you could tell if it was dreaming. But did you know you can tell while an octopus is dreaming, too? In fact, you can probably even guess approximately what it’s dreaming about.

Professor David Scheel witnessed a remarkable moment of an octopus dreaming and rapidly changing colors in its sleep. He filmed the entire thing, and it could be the first time a dreaming octopus has ever been caught on camera.

I’ve always been a sucker for color-shifting items. As a kid, I thought there was some magic behind it. And now, as an adult, I bought a bunch of “chameleon” pigments for the jewelry I make. It looks pretty and it makes my inner child happy.

Thanks to a team of researchers at MIT, we now have color-shifting stretchy material. It doesn’t only look cool, but it could have many practical applications too. And you know what makes it extra fun for us photographers? It was made relying on a photography technique from the 19th century!

There are several ways to change colors of objects in Photoshop, and plenty of different objects you may want to change: clothes, hair color, light color, furniture and so on. Nathaniel Dodson from Tutvid has created a fantastic video that shows you five techniques for changing the color of different objects. You can choose the one you like best or the one that suits the type of the object you’re changing.

In this video, Nathaniel changes the color of a dress, background light, and a car. He also matches the color of the object with a sample color, and also adds color to a white dress. He uses different techniques, and they’ll get you prepared for any color changing task that may be ahead of you.
