One of the big issues with Fresnel lenses is that they require focusing. Ok, so it’s not so much of an issue if your light is closer to the ground and easy to reach. But, if you’ve got lights mounted up on high stands, from the ceiling or very high rigs, readjusting the focus isn’t exactly easy. Aputure’s new F14 Fresnel is designed to overcome this issue.

Don’t get too excited just yet, though. It’s an Aputure A-Mount modifier. The mount means it’s only compatible with the Aputure LS 600D Pro (buy here) and LS1200D Pro (buy here), as well as the Electro Storm CS15 and Electro Storm XT26 also announced today. It’s A-Mount because it requires electronic communication with the light to provide both power and data transfer.

This is an absolute beast of a light with 2600W of bi-colour output. Aputure says it approaches the output of 4,000W of HMI or a massive 12,000W of tungsten Fresnel lighting, making it one of the most powerful point-source LED lights on the market.

Second is a new Aputure Bowens mount modifier, the Aputure Spotlight Max. It’s designed for use with the Aputure LS600D Pro (buy here), LS 1200D Pro (buy here), the 1600c Pro also announced today, and the new Apture Electro Storm XT26. Aputure has today announced the new Aputure Electro Storm CS15 LED light. Aimed at higher-end filmmakers, it’s an RGBWW LED light with high SSI colour quality. It features dual accessory mounts and industry-standard professional connectivity methods. It also has an IP65 dust and water resistance rating for use in less-than-ideal weather.

The company says that it’s comparable in output to a 1800W HMI light. They also say this makes it the most powerful and colour-accurate point-source fixture on the market today. It features advanced tech like an optional motorised mounting system. And it also sports liquid-cooling technology for higher performance.

Panasonic has announced PanaTrack, an interesting and somewhat unique motorised camera slider/dolly track system. It’s essentially a big bendy track along which you can run your camera. How big? Well, the minimum length is 2 metres. The maximum length is 50 metres, with travel speeds of up to 1.4 metres per second. PanaTrack is targeted to events, concerts, corporate, conferences, cinema and TV shows running on a low budget.

PanaTrack appears to have been developed by Panasonic in conjunction with Waterbird Systems. Exactly how much of a role each company played in the device’s development is unknown, but Waterbird has a pretty solid reputation for flexible camera tracks. Panasonic describes it as a “highly flexible camera track system by Waterbird” So, it may be that it’s been developed by Waterbird and is simply being branded and sold by Panasonic.

First photos of the new IRIX 65mm T1.5 cine lens

Things seem to be growing quite nicely for Irix’s cinema lens lineup, with the short-to-standard range covered with five lenses from 11mm to 45mm and with two 150mm lenses at the longer end. Now it’s time to fill the gap in between, and Irix looks like they’re preparing to start doing just that, teasing a new Irix 65mm T1.5 cinema lens.

At the moment this is just a development announcement, so there’s no news about when the lens will be released. Given that it took four years for Irix to go from showing off a prototype of the 45mm f/1.4 (buy here) to releasing it in 2020, it could be a while. Hopefully, though, we’ll see this one a little sooner. The company says that we should hear more in the coming weeks.

Nanlux is teasing a new LED light today. It’s the Evoke 2400B, and while there many details or specifications available for the new light other than the name, there are some things we can figure out from that name. For a start, this will be the most powerful Nanlux LED light to date, with a light output of 2400 Watts. It’ll also be a bi-colour LED light, as denoted by the “B” at the end of the name.

Fortunately, we don’t just have the name to go on. Nanlux has released a video to go along with the image above, which confirms the power output, bicolour status and reveals a little (very little) more information. The bicolour range – which isn’t specified – features green/magenta adjustment. At’s also IP55 rated for use in more extreme weather conditions.
