Hacking Photography - one Picture at a time
“Hey, mom, what is going on here?”
“Oh my goodness, let me take a look. THAT is you at 2 weeks of age.”
“Why am I hanging from a tree in this one picture? That’s weird. And, holy shit, mom, I’m in a nest of fire in this other one.”
“Stephen, don’t be ridiculous. You weren’t really in a tree or in fire. We just wanted it to look that way.”
Think of the time when you were a kid and had your favorite toys. Remember how happy you were to have them and proud to show them off? Italian photographer Gabriele Galimberti has traveled the world photographing kids and their most prized possessions: their favorite toys. In this photo series, he brings you stories of kids and their toys from more than 50 countries.
Most of us have posted childhood photos of ourselves on social networks. However, singer Bruno Mars is facing a lawsuit for doing it. Photographer Catherine McGann is reportedly suing the singer for posting the photo of himself, which she took back in 1989.
“What would a 5-year old you think of the person you are today?” I’ve seen this question on the Internet many times. But young photographer Conor Nickerson has raised this question to a new level and gave a different sort of an answer. He got to hang out with his childhood-self! With some help from Photoshop, of course.
Conor’s Childhood Project features himself photoshopped into his childhood photos. He wanted to recreate some childhood moments that only remain a distant memory frozen in the photographs. And with some patience and Photoshop skill, he did a really amazing job.
There’s no way around it, our world is dominated by electronic devices. In these days of the super computers in our pockets we call cellphones, as well as tablets, smart watches and the countless other gadgets which make up the Internet of Things, one mother is taking things back to basics.
In an ongoing project, New Zealand photographer Niki Boon has been documenting the almost technology-free lives of her four children in a stunning black and white photography series, Childhood in the Raw.
