We’ve shared some epic toy photos here on DIYP, and young Anthony Schmidt has just joined the group of artists I’m very proud to present. This boy is only 12 years old and he is on the autism spectrum. He has a big passion for toy cars, but they don’t just sit in his room. He takes pretty awesome photos of his toy cars making them look life-sized, using only a smartphone. Anthony is currently on a mission to publish his photo book, and he already raised the impressive $42,000.
If you are a photographer and a parent, your child is probably your favorite lil’ model. Photographer Christopher Urena recently had a baby boy, and he’s hoping to pass down the love for photography to him. So, he took a photo of him that melted my heart straight away. Meet Elijah Ferdinand, the youngest and the cutest little photographer you’ll ever see.
When he was three years old, Max Pritchard was diagnosed with high-functioning autism. His mom Danielle knew how important an early intervention would be to help Max in overcoming troubles with speech, anxiety and social skills. One of the big factors in his treatment is photography. With a camera in his hands, little Max is successfully overcoming these challenges on a daily basis.
When it comes to monsters, cartoons, and movies, I believe my mind and heart are still stuck somewhere in the childhood. And this is why I loved the latest project by photographer Jan von Holleben. Monster Heroes is a set of quirky super-creatures, made from the strangest subjects like cuddly toys, toilet paper, cardboard boxes or even furniture. The models are kids, who transformed into these monster heroes for the photo shoot, and Jan eternalized them in his photos.
As Jan points out, these monsters were created for kids all ages, between 4 and 104. It’s a series made by kids, with kids, and for kids. So if you are a kid between 4 and 104 – take a peek. Let your inner child have some fun.
That’s right, ten children: Clint, Calista, Damien, Theron, Adrian, Quentin, Camille, Octavia, Elliott, and Gabriel. Each of them endearingly adorable, dazzling, and photogenic in their own way. Their mother, Lisa Holloway, is a professional photographer in the Las Vegas area. She lives, however, in a rural part of northern Arizona–the perfect place to photograph her charming family. The dreamy earth tones and gorgeous natural light she finds there seems to lend themselves perfectly to the photographer’s style, all the while complementing the natural beauty of her children.[Read More…]
A nine year old boy from Spain took the top honors in the youth division of the 2014 Natural History Museum and BBC’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, which celebrated it’s 50th anniversary this year. Carlos Perez Naval, stole the show when his exceptional photo, “Stinger In The Sun” not only earned the young photographer a 1st place finish in the 10 and under division, but also garnered him the prestigious title of Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year, for which he handily edged out photographers nearly twice his age.[Read More…]
