Rapper sued by Ohio police for using raid images in music video

Ohio police are suing rap star Afroman for using footage of a live police raid on his house in a music video. Several members of the police department are suing because their faces are clearly shown in the videos. The men claim to have been the target of ridicule.

The lawful search of the rapper’s property took place last year with a full warrant. The police had a tip-off that they would find evidence of drug and trafficking-related offences. However, the raid showed no evidence and that everything was lawful and in order. No charges were filed.

DIY Camera-Shy hoodie lets wearer avoid CCTV and surveillance cameras

If you don’t like the idea of being recognized by surveillance cameras, then this latest DIY project could be for you. Of course, if you’re planning to use it for nefarious purposes, then DIYP doesn’t condone that. However, it’s an interesting experiment to see what works and what doesn’t when trying to confuse CCTV cameras.

Artist Mac Pierce invented the Adversarial Infrared Hoodie to “give the user the option to anonymize themselves within the recording of a night vision security camera,” according to his website.

Nashville CCTV camera in the path of a tornado records the whole thing and survives

When we see tornadoes on video, it’s often from at least some kind of distance. Perhaps it’s very far away from somebody who just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Maybe the view is a little closer, from the camera of a storm chaser. But it’s rare that we get to see a tornado from the inside. The cameras often just don’t survive.

One brave little CCTV camera in Nashville, Tennessee, however, not only captured the view from inside the tornado, it actually managed to survive, and Metro Nashville PD shared the video via Twitter. Yes, I called it brave, I gave it personality. This camera deserves a medal or something.

The number keeps growing and health workers, governments and individuals are doing everything too keep it from spreading so fast. And it’s probably no wonder that technology has also come to the rescue. The “Smart ‘Coronavirus’ CCTV” is being installed in large office buildings to help detect the infected in order to stop the virus from spreading.

Woman claims her surveillance camera caught a spying drone. Others think it’s spider’s web

Drones have been accused of spying more than once so far, and some of those accusations even grew international. In a recent case from Brentwood, Missouri, a woman got quite panicked about a drone spying on her in the middle of the night. She informed the entire neighborhood and the local TV station, saying that her surveillance camera caught the lights of the peeping drone. But to some people, it appears that the “drone lights” are nothing but – a spider web blowing in the wind.

This photographer creates artistic landscapes using only surveillance cameras

We’ve all seen all kinds of cameras and different ways of creating very artistic photos. But I have recently discovered one of the most interesting landscape series so far. Surveillance Landscapes is a series of photos by fine art photographer Marcus DeSieno. Landscapes taken by something that’s not really used for art – surveillance cameras.

His work brings the mood and spirit of Ansel Adams’ black and white landscapes, and it’s a series of masterfully done photos. But he takes these moody, monochrome images without leaving his desk or picking up his camera. Instead, he hacks into surveillance cameras, public webcams and CCTV feeds all over the world.

Marcus was kind enough to share some details about his project with DIYP. And the idea and message of the series are as powerful as the photos themselves.
