According to a report on Canon Rumours, Canon’s RF 15-35mm f/2.8L IS USM, RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM and RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM lenses for the Canon EOS R & EOS RP will be announced and be immediately available before the end of July 2019.
Canon is releasing six new RF mount lenses this year
Along with the new Canon EOS RP, Canon has announced six new lenses. Sort of. They haven’t announced that the lenses are available, or when they’ll be available (other than “later in 2019”), just that they’re under development.
Five of the lenses are clearly aimed at professional users, offering the “Holy Grail” with 15-35mm, 24-70mm and 70-200mm f/2.8 zooms, as well as two 85mm f/1.2 lenses. But they’re not forgetting those who love their superzooms, either, with a 24-240mm f/4-6.3.
The Canon EOS RP is being announced tomorrow, it costs $1,299 and here are all the specs
The buzz regarding a possible new entry-level Canon RF mount mirrorless camera has been getting quite intense over the last few days. And now, just the evening before an official announcement is expected, the entire spec sheet seems to have leaked.
Thanks to Amazon UK jumping the gun, we also have some idea of the price, too, with the basic model and EF to RF lens adapter costing £1,300 and US kits rumoured to start as low as $1,299.
Canon to announce at least five new RF mount lenses next week
Canon is expected to announce five new RF Mount lenses for their EOS R mirrorless camera system very soon, according to reports. Nokishita posted small images of five new lenses expected in the announcement, and Canon Rumors believes that announcement will be coming as soon as next week. They also believe that there may be as many 8 lenses announced in total.
Meike’s super low budget 50mm f/1.7 lens is coming to Nikon Z & Canon RF mirrorless cameras
So far, most of the lenses announced or expected for the Nikon Z and Canon RF mount systems have been quite pricey. Meike, a company famous for making low budget camera grips for DSLRs and mirrorless cameras, sees things a little differently, though. The company has now announced that their 50mm f/1.7 manual focus lens is coming for Nikon Z and Canon RF mount cameras.
Sigma updates Canon EOS R compatibility list with a lot more lenses
Third party lens compatibility on the Nikon Z and Canon EOS R cameras has been a hot topic for many of those looking to switch. Neither Nikon nor Canon exactly have a wide range of lenses for their respective systems yet. And while Tamron has been scurrying to release firmware updates, Sigma has been ploughing through their entire catalogue to check compatibility.
Sigma has now announced and updated list for Canon EOS R compatibility with quite a few more of their EF mount lenses, adapted to fit on the EOS R. There are one or two caveats with some lenses, but I think that for the most part, those Canon/Sigma shooters looking to add an EOS R to their arsenal can probably rest easy.
Canon will release up to seven new RF lenses in 2019
After the rather disappointing reception received by the EOS R, Canon seems to be doubling down on mirrorless to show off how seriously they’re taking it. So far we’re expecting two new EOS R mirrorless bodies in 2019 (one entry-level and one “super-high resolution“) as well as three new APS-C DSLRs, and two EOS M bodies.
That’s a heck of a target for a single year. But this isn’t all they’re doing. The RF mount lens selection for the EOS R and its expected siblings is a little on the thin side at the moment. According to Canon Rumours, they’re going to announce up to seven new RF mount lenses during in 2019. They do say, though, that some may not actually hit the streets until 2020.
Sigma releases lens compatibility lists for the Nikon Z7 and Canon EOS R
The new Z and RF mounts on the Nikon Z6/7 and Canon EOS R have been a big deal for a lot of people contemplating making the switch. This is especially true for owners of F or EF mount Sigma Art, Contemporary and Sport Series lenses.
Sigma has now done some more testing and updated the compatibility lists for both cameras using the Nikon Z to F & Canon RF to EF lens mount adapters. There are also some notes when using specific older model lenses.
Canon EOS R mirrorless camera officially launched, along with four new RF lenses and three adapters
After some rumors about Canon full-frame mirrorless and its announcement date, it’s now officially here: Canon EOS R is finally announced, along with four new RF-mount lenses. The full frame mirrorless camera features a new RF mount, so three EF to RF adapters will also be available. Now that we have the official info and specs, let’s see if Canon’s new camera will meet your expectations.
Canon’s new “EOS R” mirrorless camera to come with four new “RF” mount lenses
According to serial-leakers Nokishita, Canon’s new mirrorless camera will be announced at some point during the next four weeks. They’ve just posted a list for new product announcements coming in September that includes a new “EOS R” camera, along with four “RF” mount lenses, along with a few EF and EF-M lenses.
