Venus Optics keeps expanding its family of lenses. A week after launching the L-mount version of its four lenses, the company is adding Canon RF and Nikon Z option to two more. The 65mm f/2.8 2x Ultra Macro APO is now available for Nikon Z, whereas Canon R shooters will be able to get the 11mm f/4.5 FF RL lens.
Sigma to produce Nikon Z and Canon RF lenses, company CEO confirms
Last month, a rumor was going around that Sigma would expand its product lineup to include Nikon Z and Canon RF lenses. And now, it’s not a rumor anymore. Sigma’s CEO has confirmed that the company is considering adding the two new mounts to its offer.
Sigma rumoured to expand their lens line up to Nikon Z and Canon RF mounts in 2021
A report on Nikon Rumors suggests that Sigma is looking to expand its mirrorless lens product line in 2021. And we’re not talking about adding new lenses to the lineup, but expanding the number of mounts types they offer. So far, Sigma’s mirrorless lenses have only been available in L mount for Panasonic, Leica and their own cameras and Sony E mount.
It appears that may be changing in 2021, though. A “good source” told them that Sigma is going to be making lenses for both Nikon Z and Canon RF mounts in 2021. There’s no word on exactly which lenses will come first, or how quickly they’ll start to fill up the range in other mounts, but if true, it opens up a lot more lens options for Nikon and Canon mirrorless shooters.
Canon patents four RF mount cinema zoom lenses
A new patent discovered by the folks at Canon News seems to suggest that Canon’s been working on some RF mount cinema zoom lenses. What leads them to believe that these are cine lenses, are that they’re designed for an APS-C format and that the image circle is larger than that of a typical 3:2 format Canon APS-C sensor.
There are rumours of upcoming APS-C RF mount mirrorless cameras on the way, although none exist as of right now. If the rumours on such a camera turns out to be true, then these may end up being very high-end APS-C zooms. I think Super 35mm cine lenses is far more likely, though, especially with the recent release of the EOS Cinema C70.
Leaked Canon RF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM photos show a very compact zoom lens
Nokishita’s at it again, stealing the thunder of camera gear manufacturers. This time, it’s Canon’s upcoming RF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM lens, expected to be announced very soon now. And while there isn’t a full specs leak just yet, (although, the most important specs are all in the name), we do now know what it looks like.
Optical design leak shows Canon’s RF 50mm f/1.8 isn’t just a rehoused EF lens
More information about Canon’s upcoming RF 50mm f/1.8 STM lens has started to leak, including its optical design. Once again, this comes from Nokishita, and it shows that it’s not simply a rehoused EF 50mm f/1.8 STM, but is in fact a new, more refined design, specifically for the RF mount lens.
When you look at the two lens designs side-by-side, they are quite similar, but they are most certainly different designs.
First picture of Canon’s “Nifty Fifty” f/1.8 for RF mount leaks and it’s as tiny as everybody hoped
One of the biggest complaints I’ve heard from just about every considering buying into the recent wave of full-frame mirrorless cameras from Canon, Nikon and Panasonic is how huge (and expensive) the lenses are. It’s a big barrier to entry that’s preventing many relatively-low-budget shooters from even considering switching from their DSLRs.
Canon, at least, has said they were planning to do something about it, and now it looks as if we’re getting close. An image of Canon’s upcoming RF mount 50mm f/1.8 STM lens for EOS R cameras has leaked, and finally, it looks like there’s going to be a small (hopefully inexpensive) lens coming!
This Canon EF to RF tilt adapter only costs $3 to make
Well, this is pretty awesome. At least, it is if you happen to own a Canon RF mount camera, some EF mount lenses and a 3D printer. While Canon’s busy coming up with their own adapters, and the competition is releasing theirs, the 3D printing community has been happily doing its own thing to satisfy their needs.
Like, Whomstevest, for example, who’s designed this 3D printable EF to RF tilt adapter. Yes, that’s aright, a lens adapter that converts your EF lens to fit on an RF body and it gives tilt capabilities!
Kolari Vision releases new drop-in filters for Canon EF to RF adapter and they’re available now
While Kolari Vision might not have been the first company to announce the release of drop-in filters for the Canon EF to RF drop-in filter adapter, they are the first to bring them to market. Kolari Vision has now announced the release and immediate availability of a range of filters designed specifically for the Canon EF to RF drop-in filter adapter. All the filters are similarly sized which is a nice storage feature, although the glass part will vary in size.
Breakthrough filters announced their filters for the Canon EF to RF drop-in filter adapter a couple of weeks ago, but they don’t ship until later this month. Kolari Vision, on the other hand, has some of their new range of drop-in filters shipping already. And they have aluminium frames, not plastic, for maximum durability.
