Canon preparing to announce 400mm f/8 RF mount lens?

In an interview with Mynavi News, Canon executive Kengo Iezuka says that their recently released 600mm f/11 and 800mm f/11 lenses would’ve been impossible to produce for DSLRs. They had planned to attempt these for DLSRs, but due to AF limitations, it couldn’t be done. Their creation only became possible due to the design and capabilities of their new RF mount mirrorless cameras.

Mr Iezuka is one of the executives responsible for the planning of lenses at Canon and also hinted that more such lenses might be on the way, depending on the success of these two. In a world where people typically want primes to be as fast as possible, it could be a tough sell – of course, these do have that budget advantage.

Here are full resolution sample photos from the EOS R5, R6 and Canon’s new RF lenses

There have been a lot of questions raised about the new Canon EOS R5 and EOS R6 mirrorless cameras, not to mention their new lenses, when it comes to image quality, as there often is when a new camera is released. And as is often the way, we usually only see the web-sized images posted to social media or, at best, a 4K resolution image in a YouTube video.

Well, a curious reader on the Fred Miranda forums has discovered the pages containing some full-size samples on the Canon Japan website for the EOS R5 and EOS R6 as well as the new 85mm f/2 Macro, 600mm f/11, 800mm f/11 and 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1 lenses.

Canon’s 600mm and 800mm f/11 lenses are officially out, both under $900

After some leaked images and specs, Canon’s 600mm and 800 mm f/11 lenses are now officially up for preorders. All specs and photos are now available, and so is the price: the lenses cost $699 and $899. They have been released along with two new teleconverters which give you even longer focal lengths. So let’s dive in and see what the new gear has to offer.

There has been a word lately about a bunch of new Canon RF lenses. Probably the most intriguing among them are the 600mm f/11 and 800mm f/11. Thanks to Nokishita, we now head a few leaked photos and specs ahead of the official announcement that should take place in a couple of days.

John Aldred is a photographer with over 20 years of experience in the portrait and commercial worlds. He is based in Scotland and has been an early adopter - and occasional beta tester - of almost every digital imaging technology in that time. As well as his creative visual work, John uses 3D printing, electronics and programming to create his own photography and filmmaking tools and consults for a number of brands across the industry.

Dunja Djudjic is a multi-talented artist based in Novi Sad, Serbia. With 15 years of experience as a photographer, she specializes in capturing the beauty of nature, travel, and fine art. In addition to her photography, Dunja also expresses her creativity through writing, embroidery, and jewelry making.
