So, it turns out that Canon’s new mirrorless may not be full frame, after all. What does seem to be a pretty strong bet now, though, is that it’ll shoot 4K UHD video. Canon Rumors first mentioned the idea of a new Canon mirrorless camera being capable of shooting 4K video last month, Now, they say that they have confirmation that the rumour is accurate.
After Nikon has officially announced their full frame mirrorless camera, it seems it’s time for Canon now. Website Canon Rumors collected some interesting statements from trusted sources, suggesting that Canon will be launching a new mirrorless camera in late 2018. Or better yet – it may be more than just one camera.
Other than this, they write that the upcoming mirrorless body will not a sensor from Canon’s full frame DSLRs like EOS 6D Mark II or EOS 5D Mark IV. Instead, it will use have a dedicated sensor, developed specifically for this camera.
Canon has officially announced the latest addition to their mirrorless M series: Canon EOS M6. In addition to the two new DSLRs and the 18-55mm lens, they have also invested in the mirrorless line once again. In addition, they have also announced the optical viewfinder to go along. So, it turns out that the rumors were true: the new mirroless camera has arrived from Canon only a few months after its “older brother” M5. And what’s more, they seem to be pretty much alike.
Many Canon fans have been looking forward to trying Canon EOS 6D Mark II in 2017. But rumor has it that they may not see their wish fulfill. It appears that Canon might have something else in mind. Instead of launching a follow-up to the popular EOS 6D, the company might make a completely different move – launch their own full frame mirrorless camera.
For several years Canon had a love hate relationship with mirrorless technology. They did not want to hurt their DSLR sales so they did not release anything good. On the other hand, they could not avoid the future. This led to the weird M line, which was better as an aesthetic piece than as a camera (especially competing with Fuji and Sony who have awesome mirrorless systems).
This is changing today with the introduction of Canon’s EOS M5. This new mirrorless will make its debut in photokina next week (we will share constant photokina updates here). Unlike the previous Canon M’s the EOS M5 feels like a real jump into the mirrorless wars. (And Canon had 4 preceding models so far, which no one tool seriously). The camera will start selling in November and price shall be $979.
The Canon 600EX II-RT replaces Canon’s former flagship Speedlite 600EX-RT offering a huge boost in recycle times up to 2x faster than its predecessor. The 28mm Macro flash is pretty much as the rumours predicted, although offers a 1:1 magnification, along with a 1.2x “Super Macro” mode.
